Headphones. Seriously. I bought a pair for £6 and they lasted a month. My £20 pair has lasted me over half a year so far.

I never go to Aldi anymore. I've had several bad experiences with their products. That place is the epitome of this thread.
But... Aldi doesn't have own brand products. Actually, in Britain (and definitely Germany) they are very good quality at very good prices.

Meat, never buy the cheapest stuff (Smartprice/Tesco Value/Sainsbury's Basics), midrange is fine, and when I can spare the money will get the extra special. The cheap stuff either shrinks to half the size when cooked, or is so chewy/fatty that you've burned more callories eating the food then you actually consumed.

If frozen stuff then more or less always Birdseye chicken/burgers.

Bread is another thing I don't skimp on, as cheap bread goes stale/moldy very quickly oppose to the top store end of store named stuff or branded sliced breads.

I think you might have picked this stuff up by mistake:

Didn't know that anyone was importing our toilet paper.

Food, laundry detergent, and beer, in my opinion.

Okay, well, I buy cheap-ass Maruchan ramen because I like the taste better than Top Ramen. But pretty much anything else, I go for smaller quantities of better quality.

Laundry detergent is my personal thing, but the dyes and perfumes in the cheap-y stuff make my skin break out in hives. A $13 bottle of the all-natural stuff is cheaper than buying a supply of Benadryl to keep the allergic reactions at bay.

And beer... well, I live in the land of the most microbreweries per capita. Sure, I could buy cheap beer, but what's the point of it if you don't enjoy it? Blue Moon is relatively inexpensive, and tastes much better than Coors or Bud or Busch.

If we're talking about consumable stuff, I'd say vodka. I used to be able to drink vodka fine without a problem. Then I got some cheap vodka from a local corner shop called Londis.

It was very easy to compare it to just drinking white spirit. The drink made me gag and after that, it put me off vodka for absolute good.

Wow, no one's said fast food yet?

You could put spam between two urinal cakes and it would taste as good, if not better, then a "burger" from McDonalds.
Opinion. I like the taste of mcdonalds food, and I don't care how unhealthy it is. I like spam too.

The taste is debatable; the quality of the food isn't.

Well yes its going to be low quality, but eh, people in general tend to be okay with low quality things at times and enjoy it. They know they're getting something cheap, and thats all they expect.

If they were charging 3x as much with the same quality, then it would be a problem, but with what we pay people tend not to have a problem.

Yeah, McDonald's is way up there in terms of the least healthy fast food you can possibly buy. Enjoy your corn, corn, more corn, beef tallow and extremely low-quality meat.

That said, I eat at Taco Bell sometimes. I know it's bad for me.

Shoes are worth the extra for quality. Spend so much time with them, want to be comfortable while doing so.

Aahhh...

HeartStoppers burgers.
Seriously, they have one called the 'Quadruple Bypass' stack for about $6
Somehow, they're healthier than McDonalds...

Meat. Any sort of meats.
My godfather, who is Italian (insert lame Mafia joke here) runs a butcher shop (insert another lame Mafia joke here) and the prices are pretty high, but by God are they worth it. Considering that the local butcher has the 'same' stuff, at about the quarter of the proper butcher shop, doesn't mean it's actually the same!

Never buying their roast beef again... D:

Dairy stuff.
Coles brand milk has a habit of tasting iffy after getting close to the 'best before/use-by' date, and trust me when I say, putting 50mL of chocolate syrup does NOT make it any less disgusting.

Buying cheap is, at least for me, almost always a bad idea when it comes to foods, drinks, or hygenic products like soap, shampoo, etc. I guess you could say that I live the good life :)

I was going to say Aldi Chocolate, but then I remembered that, given time, you become used to it. So instead I say Aldi Cola.
Imagine a drink- a marvelous drink- that, upon ingestion, simulates the feeling of a large meal. Imagine, then, the large meal throwing a massive party, and taking drugs all night. Then the police come, because someone threw a cocktail at old lady adam's house, and they arrest everyone and then...uh... I forget where I was going. Long story short, a single swallow fills you up as if an entire chicken, and any more makes you wish for death.
That said, it costs 60 cents for a 2 litre bottle.
Thats like Aldi Orange, no idea what to call it but its Aldi Fanta pretty much. Leave it long enough and it makes the bottle orange.
Bargains come at a price i guess.

Cheap for a reason generally applies to:

Toiletries - quickest way to bleed in the morning is to use the complimentary razor a hotel offers if you forget yours at home

Drinks (Non-Alcholic) - Most bargin bin beverages attempt to emulate the flavor of a more expensive option. They generally come close enough that the result is highly disturbing in the flavor equivlanent to the uncanny valley.

Drinks (Alcoholic) - Most booze is only good thanks to the loving attention of dedicated brew-masters. Others are only drinkable because of federal intervention. Wiskey of any variation will often taste very generally the same when mixed but when consumed straight quality becomes paramount. Of all the possibilities however, Gin is probably the worst to go the bargin route. At it's best, Gin is a complex and delightful part of many of my favorite coctails. At it's worst, it actually tastes better on the way back up. Anything who's flavor is improved by spending time in my digestive system probably ought to be pulled from the market. For the sake of the children of course.
