Hmm I recall when I was in the military I never had time to grind/practice a game to see the end. And I' more a storyline player anymore. Some people have real jobs, and they just want to finish a game. Seems we have all these games with Nintend-hard levels anymore to sell their strat guides and get all the unlockable tidbits they forget...

Some of us have jobs and families. Sometimes we want to just see the next step.

cheat codes aren't a race don't try to be profound you're not good at it
Figures of speech are clearly lost on you.

I don't think cheats are going the way of the Dodo. Not as long as we have companies like Paradox Interactive reaching for the horizon, blessing us with codes to cheat with.

Surprisingly, it was a best kept secret, but the Kingdom Hearts series had cheat codes
Wait! What are you talking about?
The Kingdom Hearts series (At least the ones on the PS2) had cheat codes. When you went to the start menu and entered a sequence of buttons you could activate them.

Technically, couldn't someone argue that the Spellmaking Altar in Oblivion was a cheat code? It resulted in some VERY interesting sequences where my horse galloped on the water surrounding the Imperial City in the rising mist while some very angry guards/necromancers/highwaymen/wolves tap danced angrily on the shore, as I laughed into the fading gloom, then suddenly the spell failed and we fell into the murky depths.

At least, it FELT like cheating...

Maybe, but there are still trainers, :) not saying that I use them.

Anyways, Age of Empires, W:RoC, and SC I, had some pretty good cheat codes, especially AoE. Also Ratchet an Clank had "Secrets". Good times. Good times.

Also F3 and L4D2 had Command Console inputs, which was sorta like cheats. especially TGM.
Trainers are third-party programs though. But nothing like a little "show me the money" or "sv_cheats 1" =P
