Chell in Portal 2 looking.. downright sexy?

The look has been noticeably altered. The long Fall boot, as advertised in the most recent investment opportunity advert, also looks a fair bit like a springy high heel. The comics even have her cheeks and face looking rosier.

So, whaddya think, is Chell going to be one of the new gals people end up linking in threads about 'hottest vidya game character' and what not?

I don't think Chell's model was all that important in the first Portal, she was kinda just a placeholder for the player rather than an icon of the series (That honor goes to everyone's favorite psychopathic science performing AI, Or perhaps everyone's favorite geometric object with hearts on it.).

I guess they want to give her more of an identity in this one... and yes, that identity is pretty attractive.

I'd chalk at least some of this up to improved graphics/a better design team. Everything in Portal 1 (which has been described, on multiple occasions, as a test) seemed to be designed for function. Portal 2 is the true product, and is designed to work well and look awesome to boot.

... there's probably some attempt to bring Chell up to par with other Valve girls, too. I'd say it's working.

Source of the cover is from concept art released by Valve, and was also posted by Escapist staff. I would say legit.

OT though: The pic listed is a concept art piece and my not be what Chell looks like in the final game.

She's kinda looking like Rochelle from Left 4 Dead 2.

I think it changed the character too much, I was actually a little upset myself. And the current design seems more... human. Every other character in this game is going to be some kind of robot/something inhuman, if Chell was covered in some kind of rubbery suit/had the hat and all, it would make her blend in. Originally, Chell wasn't even going to be in this game, but playtesters didn't like the idea that GLaDOS would not recognize them. In the end, it seems like they decided to change her as little as possible (save for a general cleaning up of appearance, as said earlier, I don't think the first Portal had a nice looking human placeholder at the top of the design list) to preserve that connection.

The current design also seems much more like something you'd find from a person who's crawling through a run-down, post-apocalyptic setting. -shrug-

but keep in mind, in the first Portal, Chell was awoken from a pod, kind of meaning that she's been there for a long while, therefore looking like shit

while in the second one, she's been out in the real world, she must have come across a shower or a mirror at some point, right? =P

Nope. Dragged back into the Center right at the end of the game, and has been there ever since. ... it's worth noting, though, that the Long Term Relaxation Vault is like a mini apartment.

I'm always surprised by how enthusiastic people get over hot-looking game characters. It just frustrates me, personally, knowing that they do not and never will be real, tangible people. The plainer they appear, the easier that is to deal with.

But hey, she looks a lot cooler either way. So that's nice.
