Obviously this would ignore the inherant disadvantages with splicing random animals and would all be one colour.

Once I drew this cool picture of what I ended up calling a "Lesser Gryphon" - it was a blue jay mixed with a house cat. I wish I had a scanner so I could post it

Sort of; its a manticore with sharks teeth and wolverine legs and attitude rather than scorpian legs.
