Yeah, but it's not very interesting if you play as Mr. Farmer, who milks the cow while you could be playing as the hero of all time.

Eh.. It's the reason I've had troubles with games like City of Heroes/Villains, or anything else. A lot of games end up with special training or along those lines.

I don't know, maybe it is just the level of AI development.

Not really, average soldier is average. And therefore only interesting for a little while.

In the case of semantics: you are the average soldier, because if every game has a super soldier PC then they have now become standard, normal, and average.

Its always fun once in awhile to have god like powers but I agree sometimes I just want to play a game where I'm not and I have to use skill and whatever else I can in order to make it through.

I hate how in every game im the super human that can magically blow the faces off 200 enemies while in my Allys usually get 1 kill. I want a epic war game where dieing wont reset it but throws you into another solider some game where dieing is not like "aww fuck back to the checkpoint" but like a epic rush with mortars and then you die.

You mean like Battlefield: 2?

That's a good point, but if the game's story can make the player really care about the character, it can make all the difference.

I'm also tired of this.

A fun game could have you controlling a regular trooper, then control a different one when he dies.

Anarchemitis makes an apt response, almost perfect in fact, poor disposable stormtrooper #2049950673 finally gets his day in the limelight.

There are a number of popular game characters in story-driven games I can think of who started out as regular folk, too. Remember Gordon Freeman is a glorified Lab Assistant.

I'd like to see a game where your the underdog or underpowered person for once and the super powered guy is your rival or enemy or something like that.
