I can't say I'm surprised, it seemed inevitable to me. While I'm a big fan of the movies, I'm content to see the trilogy wrapped up on their terms.

This sucks so hard. Dispite the hate for him Bale is my favorite live action Batman. And wanted to see Nolan's take on Robin eventually.
there will be blood.
but no Robin.

Cracked.com did an article about this. they said this is the Prestige, Batman probably gets killed by Bane and some police officer who's based off a one-page character would take on the cowl.

it actually all make sense.
http://www.cracked.com/blog/advanced-batman-theory-why-nolan-will-kill-bruce-wayne/
Yeah but that article was written by Cody. And, you know, he sucks.

(Not just hating, the dude does the most insubstantial and unfunny stuff on Cracked, it must be said)
I don't know, Christina isn't funny and John Cheese is treating Cracked more like a Lifestyle Site and he's the self-help advisor.

They both aren't bad in their own rights, I'm just not really sure if they belong on cracked.
Christina hasn't been great lately but her newest is awesome, as is some of her old stuff. And I think Cheese is sort of spearheading the whole "better feeling Cracked" thing they've got going on lately (I'm sure I didn't make that up, it's referenced..... somewhere), he also has a much better head for gaming than stupid Wong. Cody's stuff just comes out of nowhere and always seems irrelevant, as well as unfunny.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer, eh?....

I was expecting this, but is that a credible news source? I'm confused on this. I have never heard of it, which is no indication that it's a bad source at all, maybe I'm just scared of a source with the words, "National Enquirer" in it.
PDI is the main newspaper title in our country so yeah you have be pretty much legit and credible if you need to share news to 100,000,000 people around the state.

I for one am glad the third will be the last in the series. If it goes on any longer, it'll just get worse. Hell, given how good The Dark Knight was, the third film won't be able to be as good. Our expectations are far too high. Best to leave off at the very least on Batman Begins level quality.

And for the record, I never had a problem with Bale's Batman voice. It's a little silly, but nothing deal-breaking.

Gotcha, thanks for the heads up. Hope you weren't offended, I was not going for a derogatory statement of any sort.

Yeah this kinda sucks, already expected it though. It's also good, now we know this line of Batman films won't be turned into shit (as long as Rises ends up being good). Besides it's not like these are the end all be all Batman movies, Tim Burton's were pretty good and some people, based on this thread alone, even prefer them. Basically though, I think the next ones are going to be SHIT, DC is now just pathetically trying to tie their universe together simply because Marvel did it. Except unlike Marvel who started things off with Iron Man, which most people really enjoyed, DC started off with Green Lantern which was awful. They are screwed basically and are pushing towards an idea Marvel has been setting up for like over three years.

As a person that is not into comics, Nolan's take on Batman as well as the two Arkham games made me want to get into the character. The only other time I've enjoyed Batman was watching the Batman and Superman Adventures when I was little.

All other Batman material I have seen or read has been tolerable at best. Most of the previous movies were, IMO, garbage. Didn't like them then and don't like them now.

I don't care if another director and cast wants to try their take on Batman, I just hope I don't have to see Robin yell cowabunga again.

Does this mean we can end this unnecessary gritty direction and make Batman fun again?
I say we cast Jason Bateman as Batman, then he can flub all his lines and say "I'm Bateman!"
Or maybe Bader can go from voicing Batman to being Batman...
*Sigh* I can only dream...
It seems the general public disagrees with me though...
I'm not familiar with the type of thing I'm seeing.
It's from "Batman: The Brave and the Bold". It's a more lighthearted silver-agey take on Batman, and it's awesome. It just ended its run.

I was kinda hoping his interpretation would be "he never existed."
That would mean Nightwing never existed. A world without Nightwing is a world I dont wont to live in.
Aye.

A world that dark is a world not worth living in,

A reboot? Of Batman? For Justice League?

I'm all for this if they use Villains that have NEVER been seen in the live action adaptations...

Killer Croc, Dead Shot, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Calendar Man...

Harley Quinn WAS in a Live action work.

I just wish Heath Ledger could play the Joker again. Don't get me wrong Bale was ok, but Heath Ledger really made The Dark Knight a great film for me.

They Died heroes.

OT: I found the Bale Take on B-man to be a good one. the Voice, while a little grating at times, was never taken to far in my eyes. and Heath Ledger gave the performance of his life in playing the Joker.

Prior to this, the duo was tied with Michael Keaton and Tim Burton (but we can all agree that those Batman movies weren't nearly as good as <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Begins-Blu-ray-Christian-Bale/dp/B000PC6A3E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322515119&sr=8-1>Batman Begins and <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Knight-BD-Live-Blu-ray/dp/B001GZ6QEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322515130&sr=8-1>The Dark Knight).
Erm, no. With all due respect we can not all agree with that =P

Even though Nolan's film are good - hell, they're awesome, I thoroughly enjoyed them both - it's Burton's films that will always be associated with Batman universe in my mind. Gothic and Batman are best when they are together. Plus, there is no person in the whole world that could play Catwoman better than Michelle Pfeiffer. She didn't just play Catwoman - she WAS Catwoman.

Since we are on Batman topic - am I the only one who wants to see "The Killing Joke" being made into a movie?

The animated series will always be far superior to any live action movie. Also, Adam West is still the greatest.

Can't really say i'm mourning here. Literally the only reason i liked The Dark Knight was Heath Ledger's Joker. I was never a fan of Batman and i thought Bale did a terrible job with that weird growling voice like he gargled Maker's Mark and salt before every scene as Batman. And i know some people are still fans of Batman and my opinion won't change that, but to me, Ledger's death condemned The Dark Knight to being a single flash of brilliance, i find it impossible to convince myself that DC can make that flash happen again.
But hey, Ledger's last role was a fucking masterpiece. May the man rest in piece knowing he made comic nerds shit themselves. And i can at least respect Nolan for making a good Batman movie, i just hope the last Nolan Batman flick doesn't destroy all good will i had towards him. As for Christian Bale...
...he should stick to drugged up supporting roles. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but the man did great in The Fighter and he should focus more on roles like that instead of trying to be an action star.
