Ho boy, you're really going to open a can of worms with this one. At least for me.

The clan I was in is called MLD, which stands for Major League Driving. It was a Halo clan, and it should have stood for Major League Drama. I'll elaborate more if anyone is interested. But it may be a pretty long story.

EDIT: Fuck it, I'll type it out.

In early 2009, I was playing with a few friends when they left to join another game. I came with them, and that's how I was introduced to MLD.

The leaders, Nick and Jenna, were pretty nice. The mods (Trivette, Jess, and others) were all good too. It was a pretty good community, and I felt right at home there. I made a good amount of friends, and game nights were always fun as hell. Lots of good times happened, including the creation of Nega-Nis (the evil twin clone brother of one of the members), the motto "Wheels go where? Not in the air!", and plenty of other things.

But, it wasn't called Major League Drama for no reason. Hacking happened a fair bit to Nick and Jenna, and one of the mods told me that Jenna had planned it because the group didn't want to help her boost for achievements. She got a hacker to take out Nick, who later crossed Jenna and hacked her too. Frankly, I found it pretty funny.

I believe I left for a bit during the summer, and then I went back because a bunch of people wanted me to return. We made some more friends, we had some more fun times, and then everything went down the shitter.

Towards the end of the year, a new member joined (Angie). Let's just say she was a whiny ***** who got everything she wanted and essentially whipped Trivette (who was also whipped by Jess). Oddly enough, she was one of the few girls in the group who had a microphone. Not even Jess or Jenna had one, which led to some suspicion.

In December, we found out that Jenna was actually a dude who was trolling us. And then he deleted our website and caused a bunch of shit for Nick. At this point, MLD was pretty dead, with only a handful of members left. Game night was essentially "Trivette and Angie Night" (remember, Triv is 25 and she is 13), and I was sick of that shit. So, I gave Nick my reasons, and got the fuck out of there. Again.

Well, you can guess what happened. I joined back, and things were looking alright from there. Minus the fact that Angie and I hated each other's guts, but that was alright. Jess and Angie then got pissed at each other, because Angie thought that Jess was a dude, and that she was harming Trivette emotionally. I shit you not, it was one of the weirdest times of my life.

That's when I got screwed. Angie started acting all nice to me, and essentially used me as a pawn, helping her force Trivette to make the choice between her and Jess. Shit got bad again, I became good friends with Angie, and we found out Jess was actually a dude. And that was the end of that ordeal.

Towards the end of March, I was once again sick of this shit, and a dream helped propel the idea of leaving for good this time. You know, actually burning the bridges. By this time, most of the members had left or stopped participating, either due to boredom or drama going on between members. So, I said my goodbyes, which Angie seemed to take really poorly (my other friends were certain she had a crush on me). Trivette didn't take it well either. And I never went back.

Of course, there have been the odd messages every once in a while, including a message from Angie saying "See? I didn't stalk you while I was in Canada", as well as some other weird messages. And apparently MLD is pretty much dead now.

And that is my very lengthy story on why I no longer want to be in clans.

Yeah, post is updated. The only other clan I've been in is me and two other guys, called the Dusty Ninjas. We literally do nothing except chill. It's awesome.

I like the casual gaming clans, the ones that play a bit competitively but are best for friends who just want to get together and play a game. Been part of two such clans for nearly 6 years now and I don't think I will ever leave them.

Me and group of friends play together and tend to be pretty uniform, but there's nothing serious about it, just a sense of unity and realism that we like to add.

For example we have a habit of playing Bad Company 2 kitted out in weapons appropriate to the faction we're put on at the time.

Clans or guilds for me are really important. Whatever about killing faceless enimies I dont like doing it with faceless friends.

I'm telling you buy a mic and get on vent... My recent guild fell apart when the guild leader had some shitty things going on in his life and didnt have the time or energy to play. Since then though I have found my time online crap... no banter on vent, jokes about x,y or z its all pretty boring. So I unsubbed and got ready for college.

Now college is nearly done, I'm looking forward to having a month off where I can do what I want stay up late and participate in what is the epicness of organised warhammer online. I still have many people that I keep in contact with from that game. Even if its not the best game on the planet, the pvp is really competitive.

Gota say I'm looking forward to going back :)

I just joined a corp in EVE Online. After two weeks i was "evaluated" and kicked out for not being active enough. The EVE-Mail the CEO sent me was several paragraphs scolding me, and mentioning how several people in the corp felt the same way he did. This just happened, in other words, my two weeks with this corp encompassed Thanksgiving.

I started up a WoW account at one point, figuring id give it a fair try. I made a character on the server my friend played on, because he was in a hardcore raiding guild and had been playing for a long time. Once i capped my toon i got into his guild with the rank of "friend" (which i believe is one or two ranks below sub-assistant ball washer.) After raiding with them once i was done with WoW. Those people where the most insufferable bunch of pricks iv ever played any game with. If this is what endgame is like, ill play something else.

My positive experience with a guild was in DDO. I made a character named DrRokso the Rock'n'roll Drow, and i wanted it to say below his name, so i made that guild. (its a reference to Metalocalypse modified for DnD.) One thing led to another and all of my and my friends toons ended up in the guild. We considered ourselves "ungilded" by design, but had a handy tag players could use to recognize us (we had a lot of alts). It worked like a charm, and people thought we where a real guild. We got a lot of credit for having a tag under our name that represented a 0% chance of a sucky player, even though it was due to only having 3 members, all rl friends. Since the cliques in that game are fairly fluid, and arent confined to individual guilds, we where accepted into any endgame content by the best players without hesitation.

The future holds TOR. Since im getting in on the ground floor of an MMO one time, and i feel like im ready, im going to start a REAL guild (or whatever they call it). If there is no consideration for alignment, im going to call it Snakes'n'Barrels. If alignment is a consideration im going to make Snakes'n'Barrels the dark side guild, and make a light side guild called Zazz Blammymatazz. My buddy from DDO will run one and ill run the other.
