True enough. I like to think laterally though. Could have just as easily been something along the lines of human nature, the soul, the mind or human love, frailty or condition. The metaphors surrounding the answer make it a little more broad. Still, it's a good one.

That's one thing that tripped me up, I couldn't decide if the darkest of birds was a Raven or a Crow.

Note that I have specified a raven and raven specifically. So what is something that is (un)commonly associated with ravens?

Also I make an assumption that the object in question is obvious before you. It really depends, but I think nearly everyone on this forum would have this in front of them.

I'll give you another guess, then I'll let you in on my weird logic. Unless you want to keep trying...

Because I'm a meanie I added the Raven line as homage to Alice in Wonderland's riddle:

"Why is a raven like a writing desk?" Which insinuates there is something in common with both a raven and a desk, even if it is an unanswerable riddle

Was hoping someone would make the connection there though. But that's what I get for trying to come up with my own riddles...

I say have another go. Give me more time to think up a more logical riddle o_0

I actually am using a dresser to put my computer on, and I haven't seen anything Alice in Wonderland related except for Kingdom Hearts (which I'm actually playing right now, hence by previous riddle) since I was, I don't know, 5 or 6.

You know, you nearly stumped me. I didn't even notice you weren't capitalizing words until I thought about it for a while.

I'll go with one I think should be easy:

It is the realm of sadists, altruists, geniuses, and fools.
Anarchy reigns there, but sometimes there are rules enforced with an iron fist.
Much joy may be found there, but also endless hatred.
