I wish this was coming to the 360, too. :(
Well, my bet is that if the upcoming 360 version of FFXIII does well, the Squeenix people will go: "DAMN! We have a cash cow on our hands here!"

Cue the release of a lot of the older games via XBL Arcade, or releases on disc via compilations.

Great game and all, but Enix has been milking this for too long. Like an old rock band.

I hope this sees release in Australia. I really do. *sobs* *shakes fist at sky* DON'T MAKE THIS ANOTHER SILENT HILL 1 SITUATION!

I get so angry when us Aussies are left out in the cold. I wish Sony (and other companies) treated Australia and Europe with more respect. But the fact it is coming to PSN at all is remarkable, maybe in the future I will be able to play it on my PS3 which I won in a blogging comp for free. Best 2000 words I ever spent.

Hehe I just found FF7 in my room for the PC. I don't need no psp version :p.

Although this will create a LOT of sales for that FF7 wave of fans. I'll wait for the news report saying they hit record sales on the PSN.

Also sidebar. GET SOME DAMN XENOGEARS AND OTHER SQUARESOFT games on the PSN. Get the one that had all the shakespear characters that was a great one.
While I do have this game, I wouldn't necessarily mind a psp version. I mean, I had disgaea for my ps2, that certainly didn't stop me from buying a portable version of it.

Also: Hell yes to wanting Xenogears

There are a couple of problems though. The first, and from my point of view the biggest, is that it doesn't seem to be crossing the Atlantic.
Europe gets screwed again. Surprise surprise. This would be a bigger deal if I hadn't already completed the game over nine thousand times, but it's still annoying. Although not quite as annoying as people who think "Aerith" is the correct spelling...

*hides*
its a remake so theres a 78% chance that they screwed it up anyway, as for the spelling KH tells you Aerith but so does Advent Children if you watch it in japanise with the subs on *all sounds too american with them off, also whos idea was it to give Red XIII only one line?*
and FF7 says Aeris which I probably just spelled wrong anyway, to be honest I don't think spelling really matters seeing as most of the time I take vincent and either red, cid or barret.

Now rerelease the Mana series. Even the ones that never came outside of Japan.

Any idea if it'll be the Japanese version of FFVII which, apparently, has more content in such as resurrecting Aries?
Myth. There's no Aeris revival in any version of FF7.

Is there any precedent to this kind of thing, anyway?

Gah I remember all the wild rumors and theories about bringing her back to life. Those Aeris fans where weird and made some really radical theories. hell I even heard of some stupid rumors of a secret copy of FF7 that hinted towards Advent Children -_-* What sense would there be to even revive her, that just throws a big significant purpose of the story out the window.

A reason for Aeris-revival myths? There is a reason for the myths, but they are still that: myths.

If you look very closely, you'll note that 20 seconds into the scene where Sephiroth stabs Aeris, he gains gloves. Out of nowhere. Also, right at the beginning of his descent, you can see some indistinct lines resembling the branches and glowing mako of the northern crater.

Sure enough, if you debug the game, you'll find that Aeris has scripted dialogue during events leading up to the crater, and that there's another, much higher view of the crater, where everyone is standing stock still at the bottom, suggesting a cutscene is needed to complete the event.

They got it all wrong though. Aeris is not to be revived through these, but her death was originally to be at the crater. They changed it midway through production, to make the story fit better, and simply never removed the excess.

Now that my rant's over, I sure hope that was the question, cause if not, I just spouted a bunch'a crap for nothing.

Oh, and the whole re-release thing is just that: a re-packaging of the same damned product. It's not redone, even though Jesus decreed it ought to be.

I know all about wishful fan thinking. I used to be like that in the past.

No, I mean a precedent of releasing retranslated/uncensored versions of games from other regions. If a Japanese version of FF7 with the Aeris revival did exist (hypothetically speaking), they'd still have to retool the game to make it work outside of the country (translation of the cut out content, making sure it actually works, that sort of thing).

I'm just not seeing that happening unless they released a version specifically touting that they've put in that work.

Oh. No. they did, however, take a poll at...eh...some convention or another at...someplace or another about which game they *ought* to do so with. FFVII had, unless my memory's up and failed me, some ridonculous percentage of the votes, like 72% (note that this is between every square-enix game ever, and note also that my memory's not quite what it used to be).

There is a way to revive Aeris. Play Kingdom Hearts. (XD)

But in all seriousness, I just downloaded it for PSN, and I can honestly say it isn't a bad game.

Considering the unintentional hilarity of the PS1 translation at places, I am not at all surprised at that. In fact, I would consider buying the remake if it came with a retranslation... and if I had had a PS3.

It's been a while since I played, so I don't have any specific instances in mind, but weren't some of Barret's lines especially "huh?"-worthy?

I would consider buying the PS3 if I had a remake, actually.

The only two I have in mind are Aeris' lines. In sector 5, you find one of the failed clones, and Aeris blurts out "this guy are sick!" Some of Barret's lines are just messed, since there's apostrophies and odd symbols randomly thrown in. They all fail to compare to this butchered translation, though.

Cloud: ...hm. So that's how you'll fool them.
Aeris: .....................hmmmmmmm. So that's how you fooled them.

Uh, wait....what?
