Co-Op too easy?

In my experiance with games that have co-op it always makes the games way too easy. So lets take Gears for example, if you are put down in singleplayer thats it game-over, but in co-op its a diffrent story, you can lend a magic healing hand. This seems to be the cace with all of the co-op games i have played. It just takes the staisfaction out of completing a game if you were revived/respawned a thousand times. Or perhaps the game aught to continue in single player in the cace of your unfortunate demise until one of you frendly A.I frends lends a helping hand or a not so frendly A.I lends a bullet to the brain. So what do you think?

I think Co-op is fun. Being easier is an incidental side-effect.

Sure, I'll play a game on the hardest difficulty setting more often than not, because I appreciate a challenge, but if I'm doing co-op (which I only do split-screen, not over XBL), generally I prefer a more relaxed atmosphere - after all, you're hanging out with a friend, so enjoy it.

I do like a Co-op based around tactical play, rather than just having the ability to camp and let your partner endlessly spawn off you and whittle down the stupid enemies with poor A.I. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory had a bit of this, though most of the time we spent laughing at the man ladder as we got the button order wrong, or tried to kick the door open into an unsuspecting enemy.

It needs to have a point to you both being there, rather than just a walk in the park frag fest. For me anyway.

I think my clique's laid-backness has something to do with the copious amounts of beer (and by beer I mean Real Ale) we consume during these gaming sessions. ^_^

A man after my own heart/alcohol taste. Yeah the combination of proper beer, mates and co-op is hard to beat.

The James Bond game Everything or Nothing had surprisingly difficult and very well put together co-op.

This is why the hardest difficulty usually exists in games (well, logically, it should). If the game's got co-op, then the highest difficulty should be nigh impossible by one person. Or, in Halo 3, you could just turn on Iron...

Very true. The only thing that can be done to improve this combination is take-away food.

My thoughts exactly.

As long as you have harder difficulty settings available, finding that a game gets too easy in multiplayer should be no problem at all.

Nail on the head. Depends on the game really. Halo was a breeze co-op most of the way through, but it was just fun driving vehicles side by side.

On the other hand, try playing Virtual Tennis 2 on the DC on v.hard and it's both fun and taxing. It's all about balance.

If you think COOP is easy i think you will like Left4Dead. :)
L4D will no doubt be the best coop game since arcade side-scrollers (the beginning.) Post-Apocalyptic survivors (your friends) fighting off the billions of undead. It's goina be hard and fun!

Doom 3 and HL2 coop (Opencoop and Synergy) were fairly hard and most enjoyable. depending on my speculation, some games are better harder, some more for being a trip down daisy lane.

the battlefield series is the new Coop on a bigger scale. creating a squad with a few buddies and taking on a flank is much a coop as a Kane and Lynch or GoW. BF2 is scrimage as K&L is campaign.

**hop on a dune buggy plowin' people down throughout the streets on BF2 is hella fun. It's mediocre/hard but as long as we're getting some kills its a good time. (sorry my thoughts are scattered i haven't been sleeping much ^_^)
