CoD is a very good game, we wouldn't be discussing it if it wasn't.

Superman 64 was a really great game. We wouldn't be talking about it so much if it wasn't.

The Room was a really great movie. We wouldn't be talking about is so much if it wasn't.

Hitler was a really great national leader. We wouldn't be talking about him so much if he wasn't.

If it was awful, damn right we would be talking about it. We harp on about Twilight for being awful and people didn't like Duke Nukem Forever either. The only reason Duke Nukem Forever got away with its crappiness (well it didn't but no one's paying it much attention now) is because it isn't long running; it showed its terrible quality and left us alone. Twilight and Call of Duty, on the other hand, are long-running and will never stop rubbing themselves in our faces.

It's not bad. It's just that each game is rehashed from one another. You could literally release a DLC pack with the same amount of content each new installment brings.
Thats an awfully big DLC pack. Esspecially if that DLC pack recieves updates AND DLC packs.

Wait...A DLC pack within a DLC pack?

Thread: Won.

Also, have the OP heard about the phrase "Love to hate"? It basically means that it is fun to talk about things you dislike, solely for the sake of how bad you think it is.

That took even sooner than I'd expect.

Usually for an argument, the Hitler card comes out towards the end of the first page.

I don't think your logic follows at all, but I also think that CoD hate is incredibly stupid.

The games are, by any estimation, pretty good. While you might not personally like them, there's absolutely no question that they're polished, functional, and fun for an awful lot of people. To pretend otherwise just because you don't like the games is silly.

Go to the Battlelog forums.

You'll see a billion posts about how great MW3 is.

It's the problem with fanboyism in general. It's wrong. ALWAYS wrong. Seriously being excited for and hoping that a game from a series you love will be great is one thing. Pretending before it's released it'll beat every other game from the same genre is just naive.

I'm still of the belief that the best FPS action game was Tribes: Aerial Assault. Does that mean it was? Yes and no. To me it was, but I'm not gonna tell the people who hated it, that the game they love sucks compared to mine.

Love what you love. Just keep that love inside or amongst fellow enthusiasts. No one else gives a $#!^

The holocaust was a good thing, that's why they spend so much time teaching it in schools

My question to you escapees is. If CoD was a technically terrible franchise, would any of you even be talking about it?
They still talk about Superman 64, ET for the ATARI 2600 etc. - Are you saying that these must be of high quality and be universally accepted as the greatest achievements of humanity because of it? Hate to invoke Godwins law but Auschwitz is also still kidnof a big deal..

[EDIT zwei] People seem to be missing the point, this isn't a piece of logic that can apply to anything, its a piece of logic that applies to CoD and CoD only.
That's called a special pleading and that is a logical fallacy.

ToastiestZombie said:
[EDIT drei] tl:dr. If CoD was a crap game, would it be discussed and hated upon as much as it is?
As I said before - Yes.

You're also making the mistake of assuming that quality in videogames is something measurable despite the fact that we're dealing with subjective parameters rather than rational ones.

No, CoD is solidly designed. But it isn't good by any stretch. Main problem is mainly how the game degrades itself so everyone, can play it with little hardship.
This. I despise the series because 1-4 were some of the best FPSs I've played (minus 3 I don't care what you say, it was forgettable). Since then the dumbing down of mechanics and massive increase in the action movie style has become unbearable. The blatant moves which have been made purely to grab money have corrupted what was once a fun series. This is why I refuse to buy CoD games unless used, where the money does not go to greedy publishers.

So you only hear good things on the news? you only hear people discussing the good things in life? you saying that if somethings talked about its good?

People only dislike CoD now because it doesnt FEEL like CoD at all any more... or if it does its only the things that the minority liked the feel of, hence the reason why so many say ew, and so few say yay.

And also, black ops was a pretty terrible campaign too, everyone knows treyarch only made the game for the selling point of the multiplayer... (which was crap too)

Look at the recently released Battlefield 3, it had a single player campaign. It was as generic a single player game as there can be. It is just a way to show off the graphics without the frustrations of multiplayer.
This comment sums it up entirely. As someone that has played both campaigns I will happily say BF3's SP beats the shit out of CODs 4 hour romp...

I wont even start discussing the MP which, again in my opinion just vastly outweighs anything COD will produce.

People who rag on COD on forums are people with too much time on their hands and are truly to engrossed in their own inflated epeens.

But the same goes for people who try and make a question turn into a point about COD being better than something else.

You like kill streaks and small maps = COD

You like big maps, destructible terrain and vehicles = BF

Pretty simple...

CoD doesn't need defending, it's not trying to prove anything; some people enjoy it, some don't; it might mean the world to a minority, but such is the case with many things.

Although the franchise is a bestseller, it doesn't represent the forefront of games development, even if that is where the money is.

Your logic is bullshit.
You can't claim to have an argument based on logic if your logic is crap.

It's not hard.
It's really not.

And no, I will not discuss your point. I'm going to bed.

Hugs and kisses.
Would you be offended if I said I love you? <3

On topic: I'm not going to argue about the actual quality of the CoD series, despite the fact that I don't like the game, but your logic states that good things are what we talk about. Ergo, 9/11 was happy fun time. *Did not resort to Godwins law*

Also by your logic, FF13 was AMAZING. /troll
I love you too, random person. <3

Tell you what, take back Black Ops and World at War (I'll be nice to Modern Warfare 2), release the maps as updates, and maybe release the game later on at a reduced price. and Voila! You have Team Fortress 2, a game that has been updates for four years (and still on going) and not completely ripping off its fanbase with multiple $15 map packs + releases year after year and will now charge for the privilege of stat tracking.
Please, MW2 was by far the worst CoD since 3. WaW and Black Ops ranked just under 4 in the top three (in their relative orders).

Wow, that's awesome logic. I guess natural disasters that kill thousands of people are good too. If they weren't, we wouldn't be discussing about them, right? Right?
I've seen you hating on CoD dozens of times.
I don't see how that's possible because I really don't hate CoD. I just don't like modern military shooters. I'm a PC gamer and I'm not even getting BF3. That's supposed to tell you how I feel about these games. I would actually get MW3 before BF3 because BF3 doesn't even have a server browser in-game and it doesn't support Steam. That's kinda of a big deal to me. But CoD 4 was the last good CoD. That's a fact. I am very skeptical about MW3, but if they can keep out the bullshit that plagued MW2 I might even give it a chance. Free user based dedicated servers is a terrific start.
Anyway, I was just criticizing his logic. People talk about bad things all the time. That was my point.
