Greatest part of working in NYC: endless choices

People who buy starbucks are like people who order dominos pizza in NY. Total waste. For all of you suckers buying this slop, here's your guide to NYC Coffee:

Williamsburg: Gimme Coffee
Bed-Stuy: Tiny Cup
Upper East: World Cup
Harlem: Cafe Rincon
Wall Street: Kaffe
Lower East: Cocoa Bar
Village: Caffe Reggio

And if your anywhere else, then you have no business being there

EDIT : Also, this hipster douchebag thing must be american, in England we tend to just get soulless looking drone types and neo-conservative 4x4 moms.
I was in a Starbucks trying to write an essay once...it was only mothers and kids for the whole day :/

I don't drink coffee and places like Starbucks just seem trendy to me, so I don't pay it much mind, though I did get into an argument with a Starbucks employee because I said:

"Could I have a medium Green Tea?"

The **** didn't know what "medium" meant and went on and on about "Do you mean a Grande?" which sparked me being confused at "No, I don't want a Large, I want a medium." This went on for about 5 minutes before the manager came out and just gave me a large tea for free.

Somehow, I managed to both live in and go to school in the only places in America that don't have a Starbucks within a 20-mile radius. Local places are so much cooler, anyway.

Anything thats within the city limits around here or isn't locally owned and youre guaranteed to pay too much for what you're getting.

Worked in two coffee shops in my life, besides the slight feeling of guilt that I'm charging too much (yet dont complain to me, I can't change it) I still think theyre great places to meet up with people, or meet new people and share the caffeine that so many of us need these days to function in the morning.

I think they work because it becomes an easier way to get coffee for those who think they have too little time to make coffee themselves.
That along with the meeting space, places that take large reservation spaces, most having free wi-fi its understandable why they become more and more of a hotbed for internet-connected people to hang out. Starbucks got there first, yes, and they're losing the fight as there are far too many of them around. For instance, about 7-8 blocks down from me, downtown, I know there are 4 coffee shops within a 2 block radius of each other, 3 ARE STARBUCKS.
