Yeah, that's not right, it's not from "over-heating" although it is caused by some malfunction in the cooling system. If it were caused by over-heating then the towel trick wouldn't work.

No, your friend's 360 died while it was playing Dead Space. The game has nothing to do with it.JFKdidntLoS said:Dead Space killed my friends 360

What exactly is the quarter ring thing? I don't have a 360, so I don't know the different level of fail. Is it also in the level of "have the box repaired"?The Iron Ninja said:Gutted...TheNecroswanson said:Yeah my third Xbox RROD'd on me today. Seriously! My fucking third!
I've actually never had a proper red ring of death, but I've had two, quarter ring errors.
Both of which were just as I was attempting to play a game I'd been waiting for since the previous year. Which meant waiting for two weeks then finally playing the game and being very dissapointed with it.
Oh I've heard of that. I hear that the towels overheat the system to a point that the chips cooling system resets and fixes it.MrGFunk said:Read this online.Aries_Split said:towel...trick?
If you have a Xbox360 which currently is flickering 3 red lights try this :
Wrap your 360 in a towel (completely covered), turned on the system for about 10 minutes or more (not too long), turned it off, then back on again and your system should work again!
I don't endorse this - this is the towel trick.
