Let's face it geeks, we managed to pull one huge bluff on Hollywood for years now and we should be damn proud of ourselves (or dismayed at how dimwitted they really are!). But all god things must end as it seems Hollywood finally caught up on our little game.
See when they finally dragged themselves to that shiny new thingamajig everybody kept telling them about ? The Internet ? they found out that surprise-surprise they weren?t much loved there. All the Internet seemed to be doing was lessoning them on how to do their jobs. Like those hippies know anything about fiscal responsibility and quarterly budgets!
But all hail the time of Twitter and Facebook and Blogging when all of a sudden people decided they want to get their news from real people they knew and trusted, rather than all those nice faceless major newsletters they owned, damn them to hippie hell!
And so ? suddenly Studios started re-thinking much of what they?ve been doing in the past.
If there are so many people living in that magic box, imagine what would be if we can get them on our side?
Nothing like the promise of all that good untapped geek Cash to make Hollywood radically change priorities.
And thus came the ?Geeky Era? where every third movie had a comic book hero and at least some fantasy/sci-fi in it for good measure. Or you know ? toys, and Disney rides. The point is there was a market for all that and despite the bumpy ride to get there Hollywood finally arrived!
And found that they didn?t need us after all.
They caught on us and our shenanigans ? there just aren?t enough of us out there to make a difference and they are no longer scared of us. No matter how much we yell our voices they are still going to make their Fast and Furious 17 and Transformers and they?ll get good money for it.
Ok now I?m depressed
Bring back Firefly!!!!!
