Wow, two words in a speech bubble the size of my thumb on a three panel page out of 28 pages...

Incredible that there's a comic shop headed by heavily religious people. We can all tell what they don't have....
...
....
.....
...Indie comics. If they thought Action Comics are bad they should check out Preacher >:3

Ah. Fundies.

Apparently, being a flying alien from a world untouched by Jesus showing morality while teaming up with the daughter of a greek diety and someone given a ring of powerful sorcery by an entity obsessed with the color green doesn't offend his christian sensibilities...

...but saying the word 'God' does.

Yeah. This is why most people shouldn't take them seriously.

Actually, the more I write, the more I think of other reasons Superman probably doesn't come off as a Christian rolemodel. Especially a Fundamentalist Christian rolemodel.
Yeah it kind of just makes the original story even more bizarre...how is he even running a comic book shop without being offended like this every single day.

HA! I find your point freaking hilarious. But I digress, WTF Fundamentalists!?!?

Jesus Christ, it's idiots like that, that make me take the lords name in vain.
For his sake using his name in vain less does not make you more of a christian than anyone else.

It's the Extremely narrow minded fundamentalists that make us Non-denominationals take actions such as this...

Meh I wouldn't really bother looking too hard into it.
I mean in all honesty THAT'S THE WORST THING SUPERMAN COULD SAY!?!

Oh silly fundamentalists, I hate how you serve as the representatives for my faith with your absence of logic and reasoning....

If I've learned anything from Bleach, it's that there are in fact SCIENTISTS in Heaven!

[HEADING=2]And his name is Mayuri![/HEADING]

Is it just me, or do Christian fundimentalist and comic book store owner not seem like two things you would hear in the same sentance?

Wow, that fails.

Of all the time to pull up "Take the lord name in vain!" Commandment he putt it on a grunt! It's a grunt, hell I made sound before.

It's like a cross between a growl and a "urk.

Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah!

Wait a second, I thought within Christianity they believe that God created only Earth within his image and Aliens DON'T exist? How can you be a such a devote christian to ban a slur when the said Comic's main protagonist IS an alien anyway, as well as many others? Your job is mostly based on aliens, your income... I'm confused.

I will agree with the guy that Superman should be a role model and shouldn't debase himself using foul language, swears, etc. like other characters might. After all, he's supposed to be the sort of hero that everyone looks up to in that world.

Buuuuuuuut

Complaining about two letters? All I saw was a grunt. I probably would never even have noticed it if not for this guy. And I do agree with some of the other people here. If he has no problem selling more mature and violent comics like "The Boys" and such, then I don't see why he's making a stink of this. Yet the problem is that there is nothing to be upset about, leading me to believe he's just doing it for publicity.

Bwahahahahahaha

Boycotting all Grant Morrison comics? One of the biggest selling, most loved writers in comics?

Utter stupidity from a business whose sole function is to earn money from selling comics. Hilarious.

Also, Action Comics was damn good. Not a good as Animal Man or Swamp Thing, but damn good.

Specifically, the tale from Swamp Thing #1 is referencing the events of Brightest Day #24, and the Brightest Day Aftermath miniseries The Search for Swamp Thing.
I didn't read either of those books and didn't find Swamp Thing lacking in the slightest.

I can't say it's something I would do, but as a store owner, he's allowed to choose his product.
That said this may cost him some cash in the long run, but, them's the breaks.

Off-topic: I'm looking to start reading some dc comics...but the sheer amount of titles in the new 52 has left me confused as all hell. what comics should a person read if they want to have the full story on the justice league(normal, not international)?

god dammit.

What in the name of Loki's tits is he talking about?

After looking at it a couple times and saying it out loud, "GD" sounds more like some sort of inaudible grunt. His expression in the panel and the fact that he was just shot by a tank, seem to support this belief.

It sounds to me like this guy was just looking for something to get upset about.

I'm not going to complain though, because his little "boycott" will give Action Comics, and by extension the entire new 52 crazy amounts of publicity.

He's doing for free, what advertising executives get payed thousands of dollars for.

I'm not a native English speaker, but I think GD means "goddamn"... not sure...
And, while I agree that when I think of a superman swear, I think more along the line of "gosh darn" (like another commenter said).
But, still, really silly to be offended by that particular bubble...

I don't read comics, but is it ever implied anywhere what Superman's actual religious beliefs are? And yeah, "GD" sounds more like an implied grunt. This guy is all kinds of ridiculous for boycotting the books based on that.

Justice League. Thats it.

You don't need to read all of the issues about a character(s) to get a full story, their different stories at different times with the same characters. You can read Justice League and never read Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman or Aquaman and you'll still get a full story. Hell, there isn't even a Cyborg book.

I can see where the confusion comes from. I mean Justice League is a team book so it's not really as much of a big deal but Superman has 2 books and Batman has 4. FOUR! That's beyond nuts, and that's not even counting team books (which I think puts him at 6 or 7). But they're all seperatte stories.

And the first few issues of Justice League are specifically designed for new readers, it'll explain all the characters and their powers.
