So, are any members of the escapist enthralled in any comic adventures of late?

I'm huge into the "Blackest Night" series right now, which was actually recommended to me by my history teacher, funnily enough.

I ushered in the new year with the latest volume of Hayate the Combat Butler, and I'm waiting for the next Negima to come out.

I used to love Spawn, but I kinda stopped reading it after they brought back the world.

I got a couple of issues of Marvel Civil War, was alright but too lazy to go back to the comicbook store, plus I was too young to go downstairs by myself. (The guys who owned it weren't very trusting or approachable, IMO.)

I've been reading Monster. I'm only on the third volume, but so far its amazing.
Wait till you get to Grimmer and the Monster With No Name

I've been really enjoying Batman, especially Arkham Asylum. So far I've only read about seven Batman stories, but that one's my favorite.

Right now I'm reading something called Vagabond. It follows the life of Miyamoto Musashi, a famous ronin from Edo period Japan.

Blackest Night has me going crazy at the moment, funnily enough it got me reading Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps as well. Batman seems to be in for an interesting time in the next couple of months, especially with the Batman of the ages storyline coming out. Pirate Batman! Awesome I know.

Funny part is that most of the things that I'm trying to get into just become a 3 issue series. The latest being Deadpool, where he's trying to join the X-men.

So I'll say the current one is hunting down Cable vs. Deadpool. Why? Because they're funnier than hell.

Deadpool has become incredibly popular lately...

Isn't he in a team-up series right now? If I'm not mistaken, the first issue of it was "Deadpool teams up with Thor!" or something crazy like that.

Would would have thought the combination of 90s antihero' severity with irreverent fourth wall breaking would lead to a buddy adventure with huge amounts of homo-eroticism. Not only are they funny, they have decent stories/action (at least the initial Messiah Cable plot).

Yeah he himself comments on how he needs to milk his new found popularity as much as possible. It was Hercules and Deadpool in the team-up.

I'm currently in the middle of re-reading "Transmetropolitan" by Warren Ellis. Anyone who isn't familiar with this comic is hereby advised to remedy the situation ASAP.

The story takes place at an unspecified point in the future. Because of a forgotten contract with his publisher, retired gonzo journalist Spider Jerusalem is forced to produce two more books before he can resume his beloved hermit lifestyle. In order to accomplish this, Spider must return to the City: A gargantuan metropolis he hates with a passion.

His professional integrity prevents him from just churning out random garbage until he has technically fulfilled his contract, and so he sets off in hot pursuit of the Truth - an increasingly rare and precious commodity in a futuristic world where every last one of society's troubles, including hypocrisy, racism, poverty, sexual perversion, misguided rebellion, corruption, political extremes and so on, has evolved to monstrous proportions.
