So have you ever had anything, anything at all that completley blew apart your expectations?

1. Fight club- I thourght it was going to be a bdark, serious, gritty movie about tough guys bashing eacher other up, but the tone was completley different, instead it was a psycological thriller with plentty of off-beat dark humour

2. Bioshock- knowing nothing about the game except for its title and a badly remembered screenshot for some reason I thourght it would take place on a space ship....oh boy was I wrong

True Grit, I expected more gunfights, what I got was akin to a road movie with cowboys, I suppose. I still enjoyed it though.

Around the World in 80 Days (the one with Jackie Chan) I expected something half passable. What I got was one of the biggest piles of cinematic tripe I've ever seen.

Goji juice. Fruit shouldn't be allowed to taste like that. It just shouldn't.

Up! Not gonna lie. I cried at the beginning. Didn't think it was gonna be a cryin' type of movie.

Rango

I was expecting some cutesy movie that would be on-par with Dreamworks and Pixar's moods.

What I got was an enjoyable, slightly violent movie with offbeat (and at times funny) humor that I can safely say is not that appropriate for kids.

True Grit was amazing. I really liked how, even without a lot of action, they managed to make what action there was really tense and exciting. The accurate depictions of the guns, and making them incredibly loud was one of the best parts.

Batman: The Dark Knight - Not gonna lie, had pretty low expectations for this movie, or rather I didn't expect anything special. Given Batman's movie record and the fact that superhero movies, while fun watches, are usually not very memorable, I went in just expecting to watch a forgettable movie... yyyeah, I was wrong. Very wrong. Amazing movie.

The Last Airbender - I wasn't expecting perfection, but I surely didn't expect to see THAT. Jeebus kripes. Probably the worst movie I've ever seen. Shame, too; I like Shyamalan.

Sonic Unleashed - With all the bashing of Sonic's character, criticism of the Day stages and outcry from the Sonic community involving the warehog, I was avoiding this game like the plague. This past Christmas, my dad got an XBox360, and since all he got withit was Kinect adventures, I decided to browse Live's catalog for demos. I came across Unleashed and figured "why not?"
Long story short, I'm never using the internet for gaming advice again. A truly fun game.

A Thousand Suns - I asked for it for Christmas just for support's sake and honestly wasn't expecting much. Popped it in and listened to it from beginning to end. IMHO, it's Linkin Parks best album and goes into the list of my favorite CDs.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
That was actually a film that surprised me. I saw the trailer and really wasn't bothered about seeing it. It looked like another dull film with bloody Michael Cera. Instead it was a badass film that had me laughing out loud and nodding my head with narrowed eyes in total agreement of the entertainment I was witnessing.

I was thinking about getting a thousand suns (unfortunatly I was unsure aboutit and money is tight so I went with Asylum instead) whcih was stupid Becuase I let a bunch of haters change my opnion

anyway first time I herd the catalyst I really really liked it, and I can see that they are trying somthign new, trying to get away from their old style/image

What? No one's said Pan's Labyrinth yet?

I was expected a fantasy that was probably geared more towards a younger crowd but that would still be enjoyable to watch none the less. Once it got to the scene with the gentleman and the wine bottle, my jay just dropped and I went WTF? for the rest of the movie. It was awesome.

Portal- Expected some cool FPS puzzles, but got one of the greatest games ever.

Hott Fuzz- Expected a funny parody of cop movies, but ended up with one of the greatest action/comedies of all time.

Dragon Ball Z- Expected over exagerated fight scenes with a lame story. Instead I got one of the funniest, wildest, coolest serieses ever.

Zombieland- I figured it would be funny, then Bill Murray showed up and the movie reached a new level of hillarity.

The Last Airbender: Didn't really have any expectations, which makes it even more sad just how awful it is.

Going to have to steal your description for Fight Club too.
