I would suggest you buy some type of portable system.

I've honestly been tied to technology for so long, I cannot recall a time I didn't have it for entertainment, so i can't really address your actual question sadly. I guess I would read (I believe that is what I used to do in those situations).

Happy Birthday! :D

Yeah I've done some pretty stupid stuff just so I could avoid actual work, too.
Heh, why thank you ^_^

Yes, it's amazing the lengths it's possible to go to just to avoid work. Often, what I do instead of the work is actually more time consuming and difficult to do than the work would have been. I guess it's just sheer, bloody minded determination to do anything but the work :D

I think so too, yeah :p

One time when I had to write a paper I just copy pasted someone else's and edited that so it would look different. I was at it for about 3 hours.

I'm pretty sure I could've written it from scratch in 2. It's just that I didn't want to.

"I'm not a part of your system!"

I usually air-guitar to a song and try to match my movement as precisely as I can to the actual song. You'd be surprised how time-consuming that gets. Though it's become more of an obsession than something I do when I'm bored. I just can't help it.

Also, @ The Maddest March Hare: Happy Birthday! ^_^

I throw a ball at my ceiling and think about life. It's great until I miss the catch and smash myself in the face.

Well during my third year of uni when I was that bored, I (living on the third floor), went 3 apartments down the hall by traversing the outside of the building via the windows (I knew everyone on the floor so it was fine, if a bit cold).

I wasn't greatly concerned with safety, I was part of the climbing club at uni, so I knew what I was doing.

This had the dual effect of curing my immediate boredom by giving me something to do, as well as getting the attention of others who then came over and we went out for a few drinks to the pub. That solved the boredom for the rest of the day.

If you live in a dorm here is something fun to do for a while. Get an idea for how easily aggravated the people in the room below you are. Start tapping your foot on the floor and get progressively louder until they

A)Tap back
B)Come up to your room to ask you to stop

If they go for option A then start tapping out Morse Code messages. I hate you is a good one to let em know.

I read, write, or spin around the room and try to make myself dizzy so I can time myself for dizzy races. But I'd mostly read if I was in your situation.

That's pretty damn awesome, though I can't scale walls :(

Unfortunately I live on the ground floor. On the other hand I can be as loud as I want and anyone will barely hear me.

The most recent 'entertainment' I have chosen for myself is watching a block of ice melt in a bottle.
Hahaha that is fantastic!

OT: Yea this is what me and my college buddies do all the time, we are the most unmotivated people here, so we rarely ever work. Usually TV (if you have one) or internet, but the favorite is going out to parties and getting smashed.

I usually write something when I'm bored, a review or something. Either that or I just sit and think.

I usually just sleep, although the weirdest thing I did when I was bored, was making a chair out of balloons. Yep all I had were 25 balloons, 20 normal ones and 5 of those long ones, oh and some sellotape to put it all together. I wanted to see how long I could sit in it before it burst. They didn't, although you could hear the sellotape creek from the weight, before the chair fell apart. I then took my time in bursting all 25 balloons in which ever way I could. Yeah that was a fun day.
