I am right now trying to play my recently downloaded Dagerfall but it won't work. I downloaded and installed the Dos thing and am looking at step by step instructions provided by Bethesda but it still won't work. My question is how do I install and play Daggerfall? Please help.

In what way, precisely, is it not working? What are you doing, exactly. We need WAY more detail here.

Is this on windows using dosbox? If so you may want to download one of the many graphical interfaces (there are links on the DOSbox website [http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1]; look at 'frontends'). They mean that you don't have to ever see the command line again...

Ok, I'll take you through this one step at a time. Where did you install the game?

Screw that, the guy above me know's what he's doing.

Im trying to install it now. All I have is a zipfolder called DFinstall. I opened it like I was instructed and extracted the contents to a floder or file called C:dosgames. it then tells me to open the dos shortcut which opens a command prompt type thing. It tells me to type mount c c:\dosgames\dfcd -t cdrom -label Daggerfall.
Then I get a message saying that doesn't exist6.

What do I choose. There are too many options.

Ermm... the one I picked when I was running Windows was DOSShell [http://www.loonies.narod.ru/dosshell.htm], but it's a fairly arbitrary decision (as long as you get one that's right for your operating system).

I don't know how to make this work either.

In what way? Do you not know the DOSbox directory, or do you not know where to find the .exe file?

Since I have no idea what you just said, I'll say both.

Then I'm not entirely show how I can help from here; if you've installed DOSShell according to the website instructions, then you should be able to use the instructions for DF installation in the windows; i.e. mounting the drives from a drop-down menu instead of typing it in. This is useful as the 'browse' options should let you find the specific files. The suffixes to the command line should be options that you can change (see the documentation that came with the frontend for the specific information).

...and I've found your error in typing in the codes;
mount c c:\dosgames\dfcd -t cdrom -label Daggerfall
...the highlighted part should be d.

Actually I only made the mistake here. That doesn't work on the prompt. The d Doesn't work.

So have you tried the same thing in DOSShell?

I'm guessing you're following these instructions? http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59477

The most likely cause would be if you didn't follow this line exactly: "You want to extract the entire contents of the zip file to a directory on your C:, such as C:dosgames. So, when you chose Extract, the program will ask for a path, enter C:dosgames. This will create the folders C:dosgamesDFCD and C:dosgamesDAGGER."

Is the folder definitely in C:\dosgames? ie. Can you go to My Computer, C:, dosgames folder? Or is it somewhere else?
