I'm guessing you're following these instructions? http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59477

The most likely cause would be if you didn't follow this line exactly: "You want to extract the entire contents of the zip file to a directory on your C:, such as C:dosgames. So, when you chose Extract, the program will ask for a path, enter C:dosgames. This will create the folders C:dosgamesDFCD and C:dosgamesDAGGER."

Is the folder definitely in C:\dosgames? ie. Can you go to My Computer, C:, dosgames folder? Or is it somewhere else?
After random clicking I found that the file is empty. Actually it seems that the folder doesn't even exist which is strange because I definitely created it.

Ok, I'll take you through this one step at a time. Where did you install the game?
Im trying to install it now. All I have is a zipfolder called DFinstall. I opened it like I was instructed and extracted the contents to a floder or file called C:dosgames. it then tells me to open the dos shortcut which opens a command prompt type thing. It tells me to type mount c c:\dosgames\dfcd -t cdrom -label Daggerfall.
Then I get a message saying that doesn't exist6.
then the directory isn't there, check it in explorer to make sure it's there, if not create it and put the game stuff in there

Hmm, you changed to D: first?
I changed to D: right before I typed INSTALL. Which is when the instructions told me to. Am I supposed to do it at the beginning? (sigh) I should have learned how to use this ages ago.

I got past that but have a new problem. Im supposed to type INSTALL into the prompt to begin game installation. But i get a message saying illegal command and nothing happens.

Ok, well possibly the instructions are a little off, I can't tell as I don't have the file myself (or time to download it sorry). After you change to D:, if you type in 'dir' (minus the '') it'll tell you what files are there - see if there is actually a file called INSTALL, or maybe setup or run or something similar.

reminds me of the good (NOT!) old times when DOS 6.22 was THE operating system, all these command lines we had to know, with tons of triggers and flags....hours of endless fun :p

I typed dir and it said I have no files but 2 dir. typing run now. Both setup and run return as illegal mcommands. I hate computers.

It seems that after some more random clicking the extracted files are all corrupt or damaged in some way. Any help on that.

Screenshots might help us, if you know how to do that?

Download again, preferably from a different server.

On the desktop with everything minimized, press the "prt scr" button. Open paint then hold ctrl+v. That's all there is to it. Save it as a .jpg
