If you've ever worked tech support, you'd know a little social engineering goes a long way with the average computer user. Remember Clarke's Third Law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

This reads like a story board for some unholy episode of a South Park/Family Guy crossover.

Cartman and Stewie are there at the end laughing on their 6 million dollar island while their flunkies take the heat for the whole scam.

This has made my day, you gotta give them credit for their imagination, and the fact they had the sheer balls to try and scam someone with this preposterous story.

There...are no words...indeed, not even any IMAGES...that can describe the level of failure for falling for such a scam.

Oh Davidson, you are living proof that money can't buy common sense. If someone tells you that you are in danger and then offers "protection" in exchange for money, they are obviously milking you.

Obviously if this person was stupid enough to believe such a thing, they should not be allowed to have access to their money, as they clearly show no competence with it.

Gotta love people who know absolutely fuck all about computers. But really, how gullible do you have to be?

And as for anti-virus, I'm a McAfee guy myself...

Holy crap, either that musician was colossally moronic, or those two guys have enough charisma to sell paintings to a blind man. We should be glad they just decided to scam people in a computer store for a living instead of getting out of jail and forming a political party, and then trying to take over the world. Thread Godwin'd. My work here is done.

Charisma can be dangerous, though.

Also, scamming people in a computer repair shop is kind of redundant, since it's (mostly) a scam to begin with.

A whole new level of fail has been achieved. I can't believe that such "individuals" exist among the human race. The "victim" does not deserve the money.
Almost had an aneurysm from the sheer stupidity.
Also props to the thieves for having the balls to do it.

Ah well.
Remember what Frank Fontaine said:
"Never play a man for the short con, when you can play him for the long."

Despite the fact that you were forced to explain it, I must admit that's pretty funny.

I'm sorry, but if he was dumb enough to believe all that, he kind of deserves to be scammed.
My sentiments exactly. It's survival of the fittest but for money.

"If you're dumb enough to think you can fly, you deserve to die at the bottom of that cliff, along with your gene-seed. It's evolution."

"If you're dumb enough to lose all your money thinking Opus Dei are after you... you deserve it. It's common sense."

That is very hilarious, in a depressingly sad manner.

Millionaire read too much Dan Brown, it seems. If he can't separate fictitious conspiracy from real life in roughly a minute of listening to such a farfetched explanation, he deserves to be trolled all he can be.

Edit: And to alleviate "misanthropic" assertions, the thieves deserve prison as well for theft.
