killing Romans, sure we are getting Rome 2 soon but I have no idea if you can kill Romans in that game, which is something we definitely need to do more of.

player-shrinking mechanics
I know it sounds odd but I feel its a great way of stealing the power fantasy or making an environment more elaborate, the interest isnt in the entire world shrinking, for an example:
grunts in HALO, you slog through them, boom: your tiny, now theres a grunt boss-fight where its trying to stomp or otherwise crush you, it would be fun even as a reverse hoard-mode

In this day and age where the technology for creating massive colorful and beautiful new worlds is right at our finger tips and yet they still continues to make games like COD or Battlefield, I play games to escape reality, not live it. Yeah sure, we have mass effect, dragon age, final fantasy and the elder scrolls but they are now just adding installments to the worlds they have already given us, besides, they are all RPG's (which I do love by the way) it would be nice to see new worlds enter other genres, instead of dragging them further and further into reality.
I guess you could say, the concept I would like to see again is originality. I know, it's a crazy idea! Suggesting originality makes me look like a madman, but that is what I'd most like to see. XD

Different settings. Steampunk and dark sci-fi/cyberpunk and post-apocalypse, high fantasy etc are all good but it's long been getting stale. I loved the angle in Arcanum, a world of high fantasy that underwent an industrial revolution and is now a steampunk/fantasy mash up. It was super fresh and interesting, more of that please, or other twists on the usual settings. How about some more alternate history? Like in Jamestown for example. Imagine a setting where the Nazis won WW2 and you have to lead a rebellion in England? Or imagine what if the Native americans had successfully defended North America from the colonialists and have taken up diplomatic relations with Europe and advanced their technology? How would their culture have changed? That's especially interesting when you see that they already had adapted by learning to use rifles. There's so much stuff there nobody bothers exploring.
