You're supposed to play the game to get the achievement, not design the scenario to defeat the purpose of getting it in the first place. In other words, boosters are stupid and ruining the reason for having the mechanism, plus they're just annoying as hell to encounter.

I also think achievements are a retarded idea to begin with. It's a slight bonus to a game so you can look back and notice how you've been playing it, but this notion of it being an integral part before you can release the game is just a waste of time, money, and brainpower.

if its a super annoying achievement and you and your friends are in your own lobby getting it done, fine, no big deal

but if you are doing it to get to top leaderboards and whatnot to act like you have the biggest E-penis ever, then no, fuck you.

Don't think I've boosted anything ever - I detest it because it removes every shred of challenge/status involved in whatever you're going for.

And as for how to deal with leaderboard boosters? Look up booster busters on youtube - guy does a whole series where he shows them in action, puts up their names and gets viewers to report them. It's also been very successful with a lot of the boosters in question being banned/having ranks reset

I boost only the hilariously random trophies.
Example: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
I made it to level 50 by simple gaming, cause I love the multiplayer there.
But they have a trophy of "Get first place in the last 10 seconds" which also means "without being first before the last 10 seconds" Srsly... When I'm awesome, I'm just first. I can't be exactly on the clock.
I got it on manhunt no problem - since one team can't kill taking the lead last second is pretty easy if the game is evenly matched

I used to boost people a lot in my WoW and Diablo 2 days. I did it mostly because it brought me joy that even if I was only helping a small part of the community, I was still helping it. And I only boosted players that wanted it, so I wasn't dragging people who didn't want it in.

As long as it does not affect others and only wjith a friend I've boosted sometimes in MW2 to get certain attachments (EXT Mags, mostly) and then it was only in the 1v1 mode that they had. Usually I'd go and get them legitimately when I prestiged (except for the Snipers, those things can kiss my ass), and I'd always do it to help a friend as well. But those were cage matches, if I found someone boosting in my FFA, I'd report them, because they were disrupting other people's fun, and that I cannot abide. I personally think that IW should have put Cage Match kill limit at 30 to eliminate nuke boosting in FFA, instead of outright disabling it.

I'm a very impatient man, so if I can pull a kill, I do it. I'm patient enough to use poison, but not so much...

I just overall hate luck-connected trophies. But AssCreedB was just so good, I really wanted to platinum it.

Only a little on TF2 to get some weapons though I only did that because I think the unlock system is a bit stupid.

I disagree. Figuring out how to get an oddball achievement can be fun. But if you get such achievements unintentionally there is no satisfaction from it. And no-one is going to do something like dragging a gnome halfway through the game and loading it into a space rocket by accident.

Anyone who boosts is likely just wasting their time and the potential fun of the game. I don't give a damn about achievements so I don't boost. Where is the fun in that? You get a shiny mark on your gamertag. Woohoo.

I have only ever done one thing that could be considered boosting, and that was in LOTR Conquest for the 360. It had a horrible online fanbase and almost all the servers were constantly empty. So the first time a friend and I got online for a game, we noticed this and started off my screwing around. And we inadvertently 'boosted' a few smaller online achievements by pure coincidence. Seeing as no one was yet joining the server, after at least an hour of this screwing around, we decided to give ourselves a goal and just get the achievements. We didn't make it easy on ourselves really, we actually fought each other and didn't let one person kill the other on purpose or anything, but with two friends doing this alone it was pretty easy to get everything done in due time.

Other than that, I just fuck with anyone I find trying to boost. Like in Halo 3, I would enter those lone wolf games and whenever everyone else would agree to help get some of the harder achievements, I would pretend to comply for a bit before screwing with them all and making it into a real game. And never once did I get an achievement from it myself, hehe.

Ace Combat 6 was another example. People wanted to boost achievements for battles won all the time. This was easy to combat though, all I had to do was play. And I wiped the skies clean easily on my own or with my team. Other people would try to screw with stats in ranked matches to get in the top 100 for each map so they could have an "Ace" designation next to their name ingame. I would go in and make sure they couldn't boost that top score by either destroying them in combat or just flying away and keep them from getting any points at all.

You didn't actually disagree with anything I said, other than saying "I disagree".

Sorry, perhaps I misread what you said. It seemed to imply you were against setting up the scenario to get it instead of getting them in normal play.

I guess it's ok unless they mod it or it interferes with other peoples games AKA the FUCKING Nuke in MW2. Didn't even try to get one on principle (no i don't suck you can't prove anything!)
Whenever I saw people boosting for the nuke I would just have fun with them. I would find where they were boosting and kill them both (usually getting 3-4 kills out of it). There were at least 3 matches in FFA that i won killing no one but boosters, and the rest of the time they ended up leaving after the first few times. It was always good for a laugh :)

Also, I managed to get a 27 killstreak once but didn't have the nuke. And I was fine with that, because the person in second had 13 kills, so it wasn't like i needed the help to win.
