The difference is that FPSes are not consistent, an MMO is. Games are not made then closed. The game remains open on a server. Maintainence is needed if values need to be reset, things need to be moved, if something like a monster spawn goes bad, stuff like that. An FPS resets this whenever a match ends due to just reloading a clean map, which MMOs can't do to remain consistent for everyone in them. Hence more fees as well.

And most companies won't just do Xbox Live. Thats 50$ a year, only to Microsoft. An MMO makes about 144$(12$ minimum I've seen) a year per person on their own plan. Only using Live, their only profit is through game sales basically.

ya, gw didnt have a sub fee, but its only them. the amount of updates that they require would need changes to xbox live.

dif idea: y not just make the controller for 360 work for comp games? i think those things fit into usb slots.

Why are there no console MMOs?
1. You can't type with a controller

2. You need to be able to use 20+ spells at once

3. You can't get pron mods for consoles
1. use a headset. most mmos use them in high end areas nyway

2. mayb not 20 spells, but switching btween 1-10 spells/abilities would b nice.

3. pron mods? u mean frequent updates for balance? ya i mentioned that earlier.

Hmmm, ok.

In theory, yes a consul mmo would work. But the easiest way for it to work would be to plug a usb mouse and keyboard into consul, or at least controller plus keyboard.

Headsets would be aweful as the only form of communication, I wouldn't want to use voice chat to every single person. Just my guildies and potentially a random group I was with. The "high end areas" that you're on about are all external programs like Teamspeak and Ventrilo that top end Guilds/clans use as no MMO actually has inbuild voice chat.

You wouldn't need that many attacks depending on what the setting was. If its on consul then its going to be more arcadey and probably more skill based (still mostly in stats, but a bit more action orientated with dodging and aiming)

And finally, I give you word that there is infact a MMO for the 360. Champions Online will have both 360 and PC users, though I'm unsure as to if they are on the same servers or seperate. Champions Online [http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/championsonline/index.html]

On a seperate note, GW isnt really a MMO, its an online rpg, the amount of constant world actually in the game is tiny (just the cities). Also, Huxley and Global Agenda arn't really real MMOFPS (tho I think Huxley has had a partial overhaul since I last checked it out), as they are more like 3d Server lobbies then worlds. The only true MMOFPS to date has been Planetside, and soon to be followed by Welkin 4591.

ya but champions online will have a sub fee, which is retar-

u no wat? forget the whole thing. clicking controls seem ok compared the the numerous defects that consoles have. consoles r pretty useless in everything they do. controls for fps, mmos, rts, n sim games (the biggest game types except fighting) r better on computers, n apparently it's gonna stay that way forever.

well, back to gw, 2moons, n the other free mmos.

If you want a great game you gotta pay for it unfortunately, but don't forget that subbed games give free content and updates. This is the difference between them and things like GW, which has 4 (5 now?) seperate expansions you have to pay for, thus dividing the community itself.

Consuls are a good laugh for a lot of things, the only limiter is that if you need to type, you need a keyboard, which as we've covered is perfectly easy to use on the modern consuls, its just the consul manufaturers that don't want to cross that final line and say "yes, we're a dedicated computer just for games that you plug in your telly."

As for free MMOs, check out Cabal Online, very grindy, but pretty and has a bit of action to it (timed combo system)

With a keyboard?

As someone said, there's Final Fantasy. Also, Huxley is an MMOFPS that's supposed to come out for the 360.
ya, but i wasnt includin games with a subscription fee aside from xbox live.
Most if not all MMORPG's require you to pay for a subscription fee to join
Actually, its the opposite, Most MMOs (In most literal terms) Dont require payment.

But Ones that we would be talking about in this case would definitely have their own subscription fees, no buts about it.

Anyway, as far as console MMOs, there have really only been Phantasy Star Universe(I believe they took it offline now, but I could be wrong) and Phantasy Star Online (considered the better of the two by most) which is also completely down now, even private servers after the game's oficial servers went down. (ugh, screw this whole horrific run-on sentance...)

There is also Final Fantasy 11, which has been live since 02, and has been doing really well, especially on console. It was released for PC, Xbox, and PS2, but now it is also playable on the 360, and the PS3, I'd imagine... I've never actually literally checked, but it probably is... *rambles off*

Final Fantasy 11 is an MMORPG on Xbox 360. It's a very long game - you have to grind to get your skills up. It costs something like £10 a month, on top of your Xbox LIVE service payment, which is a shame.

MAG is a console MMORPG. It's a PS3 exclusive though, so some gamers might miss out on it.

Final Fantasy 11 does not require an xbox live gold account to play. Also, isnt MAG just an online FPS with huge "rooms"(best way I could refer to it..) and team numbers? that doesnt really equate to MMO*RPG*

They deserve to be on PC. A mouse for quick select through MASSIVE power trays (would be almost impossible with a controller..ok for the soon to come elitist prick ALOT MORE DIFFICULT), a keyboard for chatting and preforming usually pretty basic movements, opt headset, just makes it more comfortable. And dont forget about keybinding options macros etc etc. It's the same reason why adventure games never really work on pc. Without a console controller. It's just not right.

Thats funny my 360 didn't come with a keyboard...
You know what I meant.
No I don't get what you mean I can understand why it would be that way with a PC becuase it comes with a keyboard and you need one unless you don't have touch screen tech, however with a console a headset comes with it, except the ps3.

TERA's take on the MMO thing could work on the consoles, as it goes away from the click/skill/click/skill/loot mechanism.

Doubt a console could handle it, though.
