Why are there no console MMOs? Fable n Oblivion tried it, but didn't really seem like MMOs (little online play or sandbox environments). Personally, a good console MMO with controls similar to Fable or Legend of Zelda would be great compared to the bland click fests that most computer MMOs have become. Are there any games like this that I havent heard of (not including that Final Fantasy game, subscription fees were for Xbox live)?

EDIT: by "MMO" I mean "MMORPG."

EDIT 2: I'm not sure why I said Fable and Oblivion tried it. They're just console RPGs.

When did Oblivion try it? There's no online support.

Fable 2 had it, though. And it was only co-op.

Oblivion and Fable didn't try to be MMOs at all.

Not even in the slightest bit.

Massively Multiplayer Online Game.

Neither of them even tried to be one.

Just saying.

That just seems uncomfortable.
Phantasy Star Universe had that problem. It let you use a keyboard onscreen, but it was bloody useless in conversations.

Oblivion isn't an MMORPG.

Luckily, on Friday, Champions Online comes out for the PC, and is entirely doable on the 360 controller! I will report back when I get it (9am Friday GMT, before getting home and installing :D)

Are you thinking of MMORPGs? Or does MMO specifically mean an online game with a massive game world?

The key problem with MMOs on consoles at this point is communication. And some skill mapping past a certain number of skills. Overall though, most companies just prefer the PC because its easy to work with online. I know anything on Xbox has to be approved by Xbox live, and I have no idea for Sony.

With a keyboard?

As someone said, there's Final Fantasy. Also, Huxley is an MMOFPS that's supposed to come out for the 360.

Exactly. It didn't try to be a muhmorpuger. It set out to be a console rpg, and performed admirably. That doesn't mean that I never raged against my Xbox because I couldn't link up with my buddies to take down Sheogorath.

That's the only area it could improve in, imo.

Most if not all MMORPG's require you to pay for a subscription fee to join

Although I would love this to happen and can't understand why we pay for xbox live and don't get it for less or a reduced amount than others, generally they use the subscription fees for server maintenance and additional content but meh it could happen
