Well, I don't wanna get into a big argument about generational differences. Personally I think its unfair to compare a generation that hasn't really peaked yet to one that is pretty much finished.
As for fanboys, I'm sure I'm on record somewhere around here blaming them for everything that has ever gone wrong since the Kennedy Assassination.

There have always been fanboys, from the early days of serious console gaming with the sega master system and N.E.S. We never heard about it because the internet was basically limited to isolated bulliten boards and a few pages of grainy naked chicks.
Now we have online computer magazines with forums with red faced people screaming at the top of their keyboards about how Console X is better then Console Y. And even more pages of grainy naked chicks.

The wii is ful of shovelware, the PS3 is the most expensive console and has the fewest games because of its unique design, the 360 has the stigma of the RROD and the games are available on pc with mods and without yearly costs, the pc market is moving to consoles because of rampant piracy and a larger market. Everyone is bitter and wants to blame the competition.
Tell that to Blizzard, Valve and Bioware. Plus, there's plenty of piracy on consoles. Ever heard of the R4? Google it. In fact, google how to mod your 360 to pirate games for that as well if you don't believe it occurs.hypothetical fact said:

Rock on, Infinity Ward. I'm glad to see that not every company is swept up in this unending feud. I mean, seriously, it's gotten out of hand.
The 360 fanboys hate the PS3 fanboys, the PS3 fanboys hate the 360 fanboys, both the 360 and PS3 fanboys look upon the Wii with contempt, and the PC fanboys hate every gaming system that isn't their own.
It's elitism, pure and simple. While my opinion is that the 360 is, right now, one of the best if not the best gaming choices out there, I don't confuse it with fact. Hopefully more and more people out there will come to adopt that same philosophy. And my cat will grow silver wings and vomit candy canes all day long.
