Consoles "Quaint" ability?

So I was watching the newly released video of multiplayer combat for Modern Warfare 2, and was contemplating whether I should purchase said game for the Xbox 360, or PC.

In thinking about this, I began to think about why I constantly play COD 4 on the console rather than PC. I own the 360 version of COD 4, and for a short while have also owned a copy of COD 4 for the PC. (Reformatted my PC, and couldn't find the CD key T_T)

Anyway, for the short while that I did own it, I realized that I played COD 4 on the console MUCH more than I did on the PC. I have no idea why I did, or if I had any reason for doing so. I just did. After thinking about it for a little while more, I realized that playing COD 4 on the console had a sort of... inexplicable fun.

For me, the PC has better graphics, superior aiming, and is overall better for playing such a game, but I just played more on the Xbox. I can't exactly explain why I did so, but it just seemed more FUN for certain games, such as Nazi Zombies in COD 5, COD 4 Multiplayer, as well as GTA IV and many other games.

So I was wondering, do any others here own both a decent PC and console, and find themselves playing some games on the 360 or PS3 more, even though it is on both platforms, as well as being superior in barebone specs for the PC?

Also, on a separate note, which platform will you be getting Modern Warfare 2 for?

Oddly I tend to skew towards the PC pretty heavily. I don't like FPSs on the 360. On the other hand I've been playing the hell out of Shadow Complex on the 360, and I've been mucking around with other games that are non-PC titles.

But, I'm waiting the extra three days for Section 8 to come out on the PC, I haven't picked up Sacred 2 for the 360 (I keep meaning to). My girlfriend played Two Worlds more on the 360 than I did (she doesn't do any PC gaming), I've got, but never played Mass Effect on the 360 (Beaten it way too many times on the PC), the same with Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Mercenaries 2 (except I haven't beaten Mercs 2).

I may be getting MW2 for the PC, but, I still haven't played CoD4, so, there's that.

I won't be getting Modern Warfare 2... The whole Call of Duty series is massively overrated, and to be honest there are much better games coming out.

On-topic, only certain games work better for me on console (Oblivion comes to mind) but generally I prefer PC.

I'm in the same boat as you OP, my bro got Modern Warfare for the comp and I got it for the Xbox to play with buddies. He got bored, gave it to me and I played on comp for a month or so but it just wasn't as fun. I will be getting MW2 for the Xbox.

I've always found PC is a strategy gaming machine and consoles are more fast paced FPS/RPG machines. For me, the controller just has more control than the mouse and keyboard, and I don't get shooting pains in my wrist for playing so long.

My Xbox 360 runs though my monitor and I have a 360 controller plugged into my PC so only noticeable difference is PC looks better. I find i hardly ever turn my 360 on.

I'd say the console is more fun for a number of reason (at least from my own perspective).

First, most of my friends don't have the kind of PC that can play modern PC games, meaning if I want to play with people I know I'll be doing it on a console. Second, and perhaps more importantly, the quality of players (in terms of skill) is generally much lower (as an average mind you) on a console. In most PC games, you'll find the difficulty curve is through the roof when you hop online. On the PC i'm at best an average TF2 player, but on the consoles I'm like some sort of GOD. It isn't a knock against console players - it seems it might simply be a problem of control. In COD 4 on console, most of the time when I'm shot in the head it appears to be the result of luck more than anything. On the PC, most of the time I'm killed it's the result of an aimed head shot. The end result is obvious - on the PC you have to work incredibly hard to become even remotely successful in the game. On the consoles, thanks to the overall lower difficulty presented by other players it takes far less time and effort to become a competent player.

This I don't get - if you're using your PC monitor anyway, unless you're playing one of the like, three console exclusives you can't get on Games for Windows Live instead, why would you play the console version at all? I personally prefer my 360 to my PC, but I play it on a HDTV and play from the couch or floor.

I still haven't got used to playing COD4 on my PC from since I built it(beginning of this year)so I'll most likely get it on 360, or more likely just to be greedy(and because I have the money)I'll get it on PC too cause I spend more time on my PC, plus I don't have gold anymore on my Xbox atm.

Ya know what, I'll just get it for PC, I'm bound to assimilate sometime soon to the controls and I don't really want to have to pay for gold again when I'll rarely use it.

Play whatever you have more IRL friends on - thats what I do - which is why im getting the 360 version!

There are a few reasons why. First, you dont need to continually upgrade your console to play newer and better games, unlike the PC. Second, the aimning is worse on the consoles, but with the mouse, you can aim really well, but it can take the fun outta thegame if you can alwasy aim well and quickly. And Lastly, its harder to hack in console games, online OC games around 1 in 5 games as at least one hacker in it.

For me anything is better on the PC. Yes even fighting games if there where to be ported. As all you need to do is buy a PS2 gamepad and plug it in with an adapter.

Better graphics, same gameplay, smoother gameplay and better controls on FPS/RTS.

What is there not to like? :/

Why wouldn't you want to upgrade your PC to play the latest games, also it hardly applies to CoD4 it doesn't get more hardware intensive over time

Well the whole console experience is more relaxed, you can sit on a sofa, and play it on a screen across the room, rather than sitting upright at a desk with you hands in fixed positions so it's understanderble. I just prefer the PC because the speed and precision of a mouse gives me the satisfying feeling of being a bit more skillful, whereas a console makes me feel clumsy and slow in FPS's (and there's always my PC having better graphics/sound than on console).

Why not my friend plays diablo 2 on a controller in bed you dont have to be confined to a desk.

I used to get alot of play out of my 360, when my friends were interested in playing too. Now that they think they're "too mature" for games I tend to play on the PC more. I felt 360 was nice because it was a very contained experience...everyone had the same hardware.

I've always leaned towards the 360 as my go to platform, but usually there are exceptions when I will play a game available on the 360 on a PC, or PS3. Case in Point: Half Life.

I have CoD4 on my 360, but I think im gonna be getting MW2 for my PS3, free online? Oh yes!

Plus im more used to my PS3 now, I play it more than my 360, the only reason I own it is for Mass Effect 2 and some other exclusives.

I'm not getting Modern Warefare 2, I don't really enjoy the price scaling so I'm not supporting it.

I think the main reason you enjoy playing it more is the general way you might work on a PC and console.
PC-You sit/lean forward with hands on a table (keyboard and mouse) as you play, and lean in even more when you're trying to zero in.

Console- you sit back on your comfy couch with your hands on a controller/lap relaxing and if you do lean forward, you're not 6 inches from your TV.
