I will not hold back: I am a brilliant cook, however I do struggle with basics like simple meals (veggies and steak). I mostly cook exotic foods and dishes, all self taught. One reason why when I move out my friend wants to move out is because he loves my cooking.

I can cook a lot of things in theory. As in, I watch Good Eats, I know the food science and the theory behind it and everything else.

But in practice, my kitchen repertoire is very limited. The stuff I do make is delicious (at least to me, but if I'm cooking for myself on account of being single, it better be good to me!), but I really don't venture far beyond a few staple recipes (partially due to budget, partially due to a lack of culinary prep skills, and partially due to a lack of AB's spiffy kitchen tools.)

With that being said, my downfall is rice. Such a simple thing, yet I tend to fuck it up. Rice will forever elude me.
Damn you rice! It's the bane of my cooking skills. I can make perfect meals only to have them ruined because the rice has either turned into sticky rice goo, burned or not cooked.

I have just one word for you: Zojirushi. Get a good Zojirushi rice cooker and all of your rice nightmares will end. A favorite in Japan for decades, with good reason.

When it comes to cooking I do best when I have a list of instructions that will make a good meal as long as I follow them exactly.

My cooking ability is on par with my ability to fly airplanes. So yeah, I stick to the simple stuff lest I burn down my apartment.

Spaghetti, eggs, bacon, toast, lettuce, toast, chili, toast, beans, toast, corn, toast... Did I mention toast?

I've cooked my own meals since I was a child not just because I found it enjoyable but because I had this problem that no matter what my mum cooked it tasted horrible to me ever since her cooking gave me salmonella. XD Usually my mates say I'm a good cook so I'll go with them.

I have, however, only just mastered rice as it's a tricky little bastard. But now I have my curries and con carne have been spectacular!!! XD

well i love cooking, my fathers a chef and has taught me bits and pieces over the years, but alot of things i just learn for myself,

iv recently moved into a student house and iv become the unofficial cook of the house as people enjoy my cooking (plus they pay me for it which is pretty good).

i cook alot of Italian and pseudo-Italian meals because its my favourite, but i can cook spanish really well (lived there for a while) and french (although i cant stand french food except baked goods). but the best meals are the ones you just make up as you go along till you find something really good

I am a damn good cook and an excellent baker. I have been told to start my own bakery over my infamous triple chocolate choc chip cookies. Ans I recently made soft pretzels from scratch.
I have been interested in molecular gastronomy, just don't have thousands to blow on the equipment

I live alone and due to my student budget, I am highly versatile in my culinary skills. I don't follow many recipes, but rather cook with what I've got just using the knowledge of what doesn't go together.

I can cook anything basic. Not good at making it look pretty, but it tastes all right and that is all that matters.

Can't really say I have a favourite meal. I actually don't like food that much. I am too busy feeling sick all the time.

Recently my thing has become carbonara, because I'm the only one who can make it just so. Which is surprising, because my mum used to be a professional chef. I think she just overthinks it.

I hate hate hate cooking.
It is NEVER worth the time spent on it. I'd rather work one hour more and go to a restaurant every day.
Yesterday I worked for like 1 hour on my meal and then I heat up pizza because my "meal" was horrible.
Apart from that even if it had not tasted bad I would have liked it less than if someone else had made it, because I associate it with work.
I hate cooking. And washing dishes also sucks.
