From something apocalyptic, I've forgotten what exactly. A guy says it just after the nukes have destroyed most of the world.

"My friend the world does not end now, the world only ends when the people still left alive give up hope,"

"The Reason I do all of the stuff I do is because I don't want my Gravestone to say 'He watched TV really well'"
-A Man (I don't remember his name) who my Grandfather met on a trip to Africa talking about why he moved away from the US to Africa.

"Deny your fate, follow your destiny"

I don't remember where that's from, but I remember someone said it and left me a little confused.

'We use to make shit in this country, build shit. Now we just put our hand in the next guys' pocket.'

Frank Sobotka in The Wire Season 2, a metaphor for the fall of manual labour.
ahhh the wure
I would really love more of that

i'll quote from omar little (resident bad ass of that show)
" It ain't what you takin', it's who you takin' from, ya feel me? How you expect to run with the wolves come night when you spend all day sparring with the puppies? "
You could fill this whole thread with Wire quotes.

'The game is rigged man.' Bodie
'...All the pieces matter.' Lester
'I gots the shotgun, you got the briefcase. S'All in the game right though.' Omar

hmmm, so many possibilities... so many favorites..

If I had to boil it down, I would have 2. One serious one that strikes as incredibly true, and a humorous one.

The serious one goes "When you kill a man, you take away everything he has and everything he ever will have."

The humorous one goes "Omnia latine sonat profundis in".

BONUS: My runner up for humorous phrase: "Two wrongs don't make a right, but two Wrights make an airplane!"

"Never love or care for something so much that you can't bear to lose it."

My life quote.
that's an aweful quote, "Things an Illuminati would say" sheesh man you're morbid.

The more specific idea of Evolution now reached is -- a change from an indefinite, incoherent homogeneity to a definite, coherent heterogeneity, accompanying the dissipation of motion and integration of matter

Spencer

Mainly came across this during Bio-Sci in college, funny thing about this quote is that it was written before Darwin's theory....Esentially that's whay life is if you think about it, an integration of matter....
It doesn't prevent love, it just prevents being surprised by the one you love trying to kill you.

Vulnerability is a complex thing and it's an important to quote to remember because it truly can save your life.

I laughed, and then I was dumbfounded by the fact that I got it. *High five*

OT: I have a few:
1. "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present."

2. "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much."

3. My second favorite.

"Dance as if no one is watching.
Sing as if no one can hear you.
And love as if you have never been hurt."

My personal favorite:

"The woman came out of a man's ribs. Not from his feet to be walked on, not from his head to be superior, but from his side to be equal, under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved"

People should not be afraid of their governments, rather their governments should be afraid of the people.

Nothing is as unbelievable as the truth.

"You're much more likely to be good at something if you delude yourself into thinking you're going to be."

Made that up myself just now but it's true.
That sounds like a more pessimistic wording of "If you expect to fail, you will be proven right."

And I've always loved a saying of my dad's. The context was him talking about attractive airline stewardesses with my grandfather (both happily married). And he said "It's okay to look at the menu, even if you're on a diet."

Something along the lines of "Imagination is better than knowledge. Knowledge is limited but imagination encircles the world" - Albert Einstein
