It's a Clan assault 'mech. It's heavily armoured, extremely imposing and can carry enough weaponry to annihilate a light to medium mech in one salvo. It resembles nothing so much as a dump truck with legs!

you play mechcommander? well then my good man, allow me to match your single masakari to my 2 hunchback IIc sniper cannon, 2 er lasers, lrm,s and srm's. boo yeah.

Kirov reporting.
I have to agree that the Kirov is one of my favorite units and also pretty awesome. Years ago we would discuss if as a commander you can be in one unit which one will it be and what would be you squad. My friend said an Elite Desolator capable of damaging even air units with the huge radiation field. Mine would be an Elite Kirov, dropping small nuclear bombs instead of the regular carpet ones, and will lead a squad of 22 Kirov Airships. Don't know why twenty-two, but thats how I remember it.

There are a few I really love,

Urban Cohort-Rome Total War, it fucks just about anything.

Kodiak Heavy Cruiser-Sins of a Solar Empire, Cheap enough to spam, good enough to annihilate EVERYTHING.

Airborne Infantry-Company of Heroes, I love dropping them anywhere and giving them Recoiless Rifles. Total chaos.

Thors are pretty much awesome, so I'm going to go with them. And the Baneblade from Dawn of War. Actually, the Necron Monolith. That thing is so cool.

The Paratroopers from Company of Heroes.

I always liked the concept behind them. Drop in anywhere on the map, thus have complete mobility and surprise on your side. Be the first ones in, clearing the way for your allies. Usually given all or nothing style missions with a ticket in, but no way back unless they succeed. No chance for reteat, only victory or death.

Plus they're one of the only basic units for the allies that can have RPG style weapons that are actually effective.

Colossi from Age of Mythology (it counts!)
I'll use them to smash your base, and while in retreat I'll heal them by getting them to eat your resources. So not only are you scattered, your means of rebuilding are ruined. And you've still got Colossi hunting you down

If Triarii from Rome Total War count, they have my vote.

Funniest bastards in that game, and a powerful unit at that. Made them entertaining to watch in any fight, especially when you made them repeat their name a million times.

Why is this in off-topic?

Anyway. My absolute favorite might be the Teutonic Knight from Age of Empires 2, if it weren't for the Kadeshi Multi-Beam Frigates, which are absolutely wonderful, both in design and in function.

In a game where a single beam weapon requires an entire frigate, this thing has four on something midway between a frigate and a corvette (the next size down). And it spins when it fires.
I think I love you!

I cant pick this bad boy now, so I'll go for the Hive Frigate from Homeworld Cataclysm. It's pure win in a handy package!

It just hit me: any mech you made in Metal Fatigue. Mechs there were kinda custom made so the badassery of your robots depended on how you wanted them. Neuropa bot with speed legs, shield torso and saw hands ftw.

oh so many:
the Tesla trooper for RA 1
goblin sappers from WC 3
the Vulcan for Total Annihilation (i found it in a mod, if you have never seen it, it a Big Bertha chain gun)
the Fatboy from supreme commander 1 (the shielded amphibious battleship factory aircraft refueling platform...thing)
and the cybranasaurus rex form SC 2

It's got to be the monkeylord from Supreme Commander.

Powerful beam weapon, submersible and can step on tanks.

The original badass giant robot, the Krogoth from Total Annihilation.
yes. just yes. If I had to pick a different unit, though, it'd probably be the Vulcan from TA.
Don't forget the Snipers!
Cloaks, and is equipped with an Annihilator rifle.
Uses a stupid amount of energy, but when you absolutely have to murder something big and nuke are banned...

XV15 Stealth-suit squad, from Dawn of War.
Weapons can upgrade to fusion blasters, which melt flesh and steel alike, they are always invisible (except when certain units or abilities are used/nearby), and have jetpacks for getting around the edges into a base to wreck havoc. Great for ambushes, or exterminations, and are useful to bolster a frontline. Only drawback is short range and slower rate of fire.
I agree with this person For the Greater Good.

I've only played 2 RTS games so forgive me if my judgement is upsetting. For me, it'd either be the Scarab tank from Halo wars or Nazgul from LOTR: Battle for middle earth 2

The Monkeylord from SupCom 2, the car cheat from AoE, or perhaps the Anubite from Age of Mythology. Spamming them and seeing them all leap into battle is simply magical.
