Why is this in off-topic?

Anyway. My absolute favorite might be the Teutonic Knight from Age of Empires 2, if it weren't for the Kadeshi Multi-Beam Frigates, which are absolutely wonderful, both in design and in function.

In a game where a single beam weapon requires an entire frigate, this thing has four on something midway between a frigate and a corvette (the next size down). And it spins when it fires.
sorry didn't read 7 pages to see if it was answered but what game is that picture from?

edit: never mind found out its Homeworld.

The Galactic Collusus from Supreme Commander. A giant laser which nothing can reflect
or absorb at ALL. Tractor beams which destroy smaller units, anything it walks on is crushed and if it happens to die, whatever it falls on will die.A game-ender

Angry Mob from Generals. Give them AK47's and a single Angry Mob can wipe out an entire base by itself or build as many as you can and lag your enemy to death.

Cretan archers!

I loved these guys, they're a brilliant asset to infantry based Roman armies.

Yep. It does EVERYTHING. It has AA, torpedos, the huge microwave laser and some secondary bolters.

I've stopped one. The UEF's defences is not so easily destroyed by a single sparkly robot.

um.... what was the name of that giant three-legged walker you get in the japanese campaign of Red-Alert 3? cause i'm going with that.

or if that doesn't count, i'll just go with a Necron warrior... nothing like a whole horde of those guys.

It's the Shogun executioner.

My favourite unit would be the Mecha Tengu. Screw you, harvesters in early-game :p

In SC2: Banelings. A lot of them. Burried. Muhahahahaha.

Tesla Coils from classic C&C. So much fun to fry enemy troopers with.
Tesla technology is pretty awesome. Nothing could get through the Tesla Coils in Red Alert 1. But afterwards it got a bit nerfed, you know balanced and it doesn't shoot that fast (not sure bout the dmg), but still, tesla troopers charging that shit, and you can strike enemy tanks in 2 hits, even with no electricity. Blow that shit up, Tanya!

Based on name, voice, efficiency (uses of the unit) and personal bias. For me it's the 'Overlord Tank' from C&C: Generals. Despite the game not being so good, this unit is pure win. It has awesome lines, can crush everything and in large enough quantities is basically unstoppable.

So what's your choice? Cast away!
I like the Azad Asavaran from R:TW (EB). Nothing beats watching a line of infantry disappear under thousands of armored steeds.

Honestly, I love every marine unit in Dawn of War 2. The tactical marines offer a tremendous ability to soak up fire (having more HP than three squads of guardians if a mere fraction of the firepower), and early in the game their flamer upgrade ensures simply massing units is a foolish gambit. Scouts offer the best defense the marines have against a melee charge early in the game with their ludicrously lethal shotguns. Hell, if an ork or tyranid player isn't controlling their various melee squads proficiently on the individual level, any squad in the tiny starting army will bring utter ruin in short order. The Assault marine is the solution to most tactical dilemmas, especially when an army is foolish enough to rely on weight in firepower to win the day. The Librarian is easily as effective as any commander unit on the field and is especially powerful when confronting armies that send large numbers of flimsy units into battle. When a dreadnought enters the field, victory is generally all but assured as the thing will absorb withering fire and deals massive damage, and when properly supported only a well played tank or super unit is really sufficient to bring them down. The predator, while far more lethal, is also far harder to keep alive and thus I only field them when melta grenades, plasma fire and missiles are insufficient to turn back an armored onslaught. And, should terminators take the field, the battle is almost certainly over. I can, in fact, only recall a handful of instances where I have lost a battle once I manage to deploy these things. Nearly impossible to kill and armed with weapons suited to murder just about anything, these guys are certainly the stars of the show.

Even the commander units are awesome. The force commander is a melee powerhouse who can absorb tremendous punishment while delivering it in kind. The Techmarine might be flimsy but there is no deadlier ranged unit in the game. Hell, alone a properly played techmarine can bring down a fully upgraded squad of marines in seconds alone - a feat other races would have to use an army to accomplish.

The eagle eyed will note that I didn't mention several units. I do like the devestator squad, but I generally prefer to use a turret for the job (and I play as a techmarine as often as not). The razorback offers incredible anti-infantry firepower in a highly mobile package and gives you troops quick transport options but it's place in the game generally relegates it to special purposes. If I had plenty of resources, the dreadnought is the unit of choice and if resources are scarce, I would rather use them to upgrade existing units. It is only when I reach T2 long before the other side (and thus armor maintains a relative degree of invulnerability) that I use it, or when playing on the larger 3v3 maps where quick transport is often advantageous. The plasma cannon, while hilarously deadly, is certainly the least useful of the artillery weapons and often the job is better done by simple assault anyway, but sometimes a prepared defense is impossible to maneuver around and dug in well enough that an assault would be disasterous.

I would say the C&C 3 mammoth tank

I prefered this

Oh no I forgot about that. New favorite.
I never liked the Mammoth Tank MK II. It always seemed sloppy in design and kind of too heavy. The huge legs instead of treads was never my thing :). Also no twin barrels, no votes :D. No awesome lines as well, though forgiven since Tiberium Sun was before the invention of interesting lines :). To top that you can have only one. Where is the fun in that?

Pretty much everything in Brutal Legend. From motorcyclists with giant speakers which emit healing bass music, to a temple-on-wheels with a giant, still-beating heart on it which is stabbed by a druid to cause spikes to burst from the ground, to a huge hulking monster with a tree on his back filled with a flock, uh, a murder of crows... They're all as crazy as they are brilliant. But if I have to choose one unit... It's gotta be this guy:

It's called the Screamwagon. A unit belonging to the Tainted Coil, a faction of demons who hide their hideous bodies with S&M style leather straps and gags. All their units and powers seem to involve torture, pain, mutilation or death in some way, the most extreme example being this. A hot rod with a hapless demon strapped to it and tortured, with his screams providing motivation to nearby troops. There are three torture methods which can be cycled through, and each causes him to scream in a different way, providing a different bonus - hot oil buffs defence, stretching buffs attack, and fire buffs unit spawning rate. It's simultaneously the most twisted and brilliant unit I've ever seen in a game.

The Necromancer from Total Annhilation.

A nuisince to get my hands on due to it being a CORE unit and I play ARM but so worth it if there happens to be a unit graveyard nearby...
