Lets set the scene, you wake up tomarrow morning and you have super powers, you are the only one on earth with super powers.

Could you honestly be a super hero with that type of power?

I would honestly say no, I mean I would go around doing the vigilante thing based on what news story about criminals pissed me off that morning. But I would honestly say that I could see myself as a Doctor Doom. I could even take over Australia for two reasons, the first reason being that every villain needs their very own island nation.. And the second being.. Its got some nice beaches... Come on, Super Dictator's gotta have a tan.

So, could you be a hero? If not what would you do?

I could. I would. And then I'd probably die trying.

EDIT: Somehow, I get the feeling that heroes will be few ad far between...

I would be the villain, more fun, loads more fun. Played Evil Genius, I mean, so much fun!

No, I'd probably hide my powers for fear of being persecuted or cut open for study.

Unless I was in danger or present when something catastrophic was happening, in which case I might not be able to control my will to save myself or help others. And if this were to happen, I'd probably be more like the reluctant antihero sort than the openly good sort.

Hell yeah! Give up the chance to be loved of feared by an entire planet! That would be awesome! Plus I'm sure I could solve a hell of a lot of the world's problems with my superpowers, whatever they may be. Eternal fame, ftw!

Yeah, but so long as nobody complains. I can't take people being ungrateful.

I'd be tempted towards the evil persuasion, unfortunately. I had a similar conversation with my friends, except about jedi. I would definitely be a sith, there are just so many more... options.

I'm too lazy to do things like saving people and stuff. But I'd like to have powers, that would make my life more interesting :)

Yes, but I would be Chaotic Good. Those child molesters and serial killers rotting in prison? They would be dead. Jon and Kate popular because Kate is a slut? No problem, I'll just beat the snot out of her. War in Iraq? More like America better get the hell out, and the Iraqi government better play it straight, or a man with red and black jeans, black half shirt, and red and black toque with a broken hockey stick is going to lay the smackdown, down.

Mehh...
I'm more the anti-hero type...
I can't be bothered about anyone else besides me.
Superspeed to get to the store 5 seconds before closing, or x-ray vision to acquire more material for those lonely nights, etc.

I would probably be an anti-hero. Doing things for personal gain more than anything. But if there was genuine danger, i'd swoop in.

I could not help but turn to evil, its so much more fun and gives much greater opportunities to amass a large fortune and many attractive women

I could be but I don't have any desire to be. After discovering my powers and spending a few days playing with them, I'd look for opportunities to make money using them (at best, legally). If I ever see anything that I perceive as unjust along the way, I'll probably take action.

Attempting to follow Good/Evil ideals is a fruitless endeavor, I'm more at home when I'm fulfilling my wants and being myself until something so terrible arises that I can't turn away from it.

Well, unless I'm really fucking hungry.

I have a feeling I'd probably end up like Will Smith in the first half of the movie Hancock. I'd try to do good because I am a good guy, but it'd be more on my terms with all my personal flaws getting in the way.

Have a feeling I'd probably die quickly too. Not from stupidity, but from not caring. I'm prone to put my life at risk without super powers. With them... yeah.

I really don't think I could be a hero. I can't help feeling that my outlook would be the same one Luigi has in There Will Be Brawl:
This is the world I'm supposed to save? There's nothing here worth saving.
I lost my faith in humanity quite a long time ago, and I really don't think I'd be able to be bothered to spend my time saving people who don't deserve to be saved. I would end up using my powers to keep myself, my friends, and my relatives safe and happy. So I wouldn't be a villain, because I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to do truly evil things; I'd just be the most indifferent superhero ever.

I would be sitting here asking what I should do with the powers because it is always easier to do these things when it isn't you doing them.

I could be the goofy, crap-at-everything sidekick.

Hero: Ok we have to climb the mountain of doom
Me: No, fuck that
Hero:But come ooooooooooon
Me: Fine...
*Takes one step up the side of mountain then comes down*
Me: Ok, we'll finish this off next week
Hero: BUH?

I would be the most altruistic and courageous hero in the world, and I'd make everyone else feel bad about it.
