If the situation really demanded that I kill someone to save myself or someone else, yes I believe I would. Otherwise, I don't think I could premeditatedly murder someone.

Of course I could under the very narrow set of circumstances you have provided. The really interesting question is whether or not we would/could kill someone without those circumstances.

if someone started attacking my wife, I'd have no hesitation to beat the crap out of them or stab them. I don't want to end their life but if it happens in the process of saving my wife. well... i have a first aid certificate if i feel to bad lol.

If its them or me i would damn well make sure they're arse is hitting the ground first.

Life or death situation thats what you would do.
However...what ive noticed is most people would freeze and pull a funny face at these moments.

According to my mother, I have killed countless starving african children by not eating my greens. If it's that easy, then I doubt I'll have a problem taking on starving adults. Non-starving ones might take a little more planning and forethought.
Made me chuckle =D

OT...Yes.

of course i could, anyone could... its more of a question of whether you "would". would you kill someone. anybody "could" thats easy.
If i were to kill someone, they would definitely deserve it. I would only do it in defense of myself or another.

Nope.

No matter who the person was, I don't think I could ever bring myself to kill another human. If I did, the guilt would never leave my mind.
Hey its you or the other guy. If he was a scumbag trying to kill you, well then, you did the world a favor getting rid of him. He was born from a mother same as you, and you are entitled to life as much as he.

If he thinks to take that right away from you then take his life from him.
But I simply can't think that way. If someone was trying to kill me I would run, hide, or beg for my life. I just can't bring myself to kill another person, even if they are going to kill me.

I know it's stupid, but It's just the way I am. I don't think I can actually kill somebody.
Once again you don't really know until it actually happens, in your case, scratch that everyone heres case I hope it never happens. But tell me if circumstances gave you the choice of him dead or you as much as I hate to say against your convictions, you would fight back and kill. I'm not trying to do this in a "your wrong" kind of way but I'm simply going by what I know of human nature, when pushed to the limits to survive humans really are capable of anything.
Perhaps I should explain more.

If I was in a situation in which I was being threatened by a deranged killer, I would not try to fight back. I would try to escape, because that's what my survival instinct has always told me to do when I'm in danger. Because I am almost guaranteed to lose. Now if I was trapped and about to get killed, I might try to fight back but I would probably fail horribly.

That's how I see my encounter with a killer playing out. Your right that in situations of panic humans do things that we would normally never do, so I can't say for sure what I would do. That's just what I think would happen.
Exactly, you see what I mean, no matter how many times we all go over this "can I kill" thread we will never actually know. It comes down to situation and a will to survive I guess. As much as I do hate to say it about myself I am a person who would put his own existence above almost anyone elses in a situation like this, in a way I envy you for being able to do the opposite but this is exactly the reason were all talking about this isn't it.

Sure, if circumstances allow it to happen and if it must be done to protect loved ones, and those not needing of unjust pain.

On one hand hand, selfless murder is about instantaneously exerted power, and it's something that can't be done without bending own psychological barriers. Murder can happen in a rush, instantaneously as adrenaline rushes in fast, and is harder to recall how it had occured rather than how you felt. (Just think of a robber entering your house with you unaware of the robbers presence. Then, you confront the robber. Somehow, you manage to defend yourself.) The consequence of murder can be guilt, or at least the knowledge that what you had done was 'just' if it needed to be done, but nothing more. Or..

On the other hand, murder can be planned, and entirely conscious. There is no doubt that something of this scale has serious repercussions on mental health. You must be mentally conditioned to do something like this. To know that you are going to kill a human being, to know you are going to end someones life is something that can't be avoided in memory. (Just think of the same robber, but you have enough evidence to know that this robbery will occur. So you prepare for the robbers arrival. Another, better example would be child soldiers, as most suffer serious mental and physical repercussions from atrocities of war. Although most don't exactly 'choose' to kill, many child soldiers are more 'forced' to do so to protect others or themselves. The effects on mental health still stands when comparing 'choice' to 'forced'. Both have effects of severe guilt, in most cases.) The effect of knowing you chose to kill someone is a too unbearable thought. It is near impossible to escape the prospect of such a cursed memory. To surpass such thinking and relieve yourself of that kind of stress isn't human; it's inhuman. Stress is what makes part of us who we are.

Stress, our natural instincts and human emotions make us who we are. Human.

Our goal: to escape such stress, give in to our natural instincts, and learn from each others emotions. To kill someone adds more stress, conscious or not, and makes the equation out of balance. That is the effect of murder. Regardless of the outlook on why and for what cause the killing was done, murder is murder.

Unless you are psychopathic. In that case, murder can be an entire different story!.. But enough of this. By now, you should see my point on what I think of murder already.

Indeed, good sir, though whether the blood would ever leave my hands I cannot say. I know all the weak points on the human body and can hit most of them with the five/six inch steel kunai I own...I'm saving for chain mail and then a katana...XD

I could. definately in defense mode.
if not dire circumstances, then I'd have to be carrying out my plan. so I might if they are in my way (Not literally, like walking down a street.)

I would murder certain people and even watch the light go out of there eyes. There are a few people I can honestly say that about.
I would do anything to protect my loved ones. If someone attacked one of them I would die for them, and I would certainly kill for them.
I see most of humanity as ignorant pests that have no relation to my life.[Probably because I live in America]
Human life means as little to me as that of common pests.
