Could you?

Yes I could with varying difficulty to whom it was I was going to kill and under what circumstances. If I was a soldier and tasked with killing another soldier I would do so easily. If I had to kill a criminal because I was ordered to by anyone I would do it albeit even easier than the other soldier. IfI had to kill a stranger it would be harder but if you don't think about the man and only the life it becomes easier. If I was forced to kill a loved one that would be hard to say the least.

I would like to think I could. It would be better if my victim was a complete stranger because I would feel less sympathy than if I killed someone I know. My first reason would be to kill in self-defense like if I encountered a homicidal person or if I was part of a conspiracy to assassinate a corrupt powerful person who was responsible for destroying someone or something that I took personally.

No. Never. I couldn't even hurt someone (and by that, I mean even as little as a bruise or something). Yes, I realize that I'm weird.

I go by the adage: "One for many".

If I'll save MORE people by ending a single persons life, I'm good to go.

In a situation where another person was directly threatening my life or the life of someone I care about, I think I could end their life and get over it eventually. I think that's really the only situation where I could justify killing a person, though.

Yes there are many situations in which I could. I go to boot camp this fall and it would be foolish for anyone who wants to join the military to not be at peace with them self on this issue.

Yes I could. Defending my loved ones. friends, or family I would, my family has a long line of warriors and soldiers. I probably am genetically and mentally equipped for it.

My father says his brothers in arms matter more to him than any other motive in duty or war. So killing to defend others is easier then killing for any other reason is what I take for that.

It all depends really, I mean what do they smell like at the time of considering killing them?

If it came down to protecting my children in a life or death situation then yes, without a doubt I would do it. But then again that's just basic instinctual wiring.

I sure as hell hope so. I won't make a very good infantry officer if I'm incapable of killing a man, or ordering others to do so.

Doesn't mean I'd enjoy it... unless it was someone like

I'd kill a man who raped my gf. But probably only if he made me watch. I'd go into his stomach with a box cutter and pull his beating heart out.

Depends on several things. I assume there would be no legal ramifications for the sake of discussion.

If it is one of the two people I truly hate without a second thought. If you cannot understand this, count yourself lucky you have never actually hated someone.

If it was a complete stranger I would have to have a good reason. Kill one to save a hundred? Yea, I could do that. Kill one to save a loved one? Again, I could probably do that. Self defense, not even a question.

If it is a loved one...no I couldn't kill them. The only conceivable situation I would consider it is if one loved one was about to kill another loved one.

Traps killed a mouse in my room and I've been depressed and self-doubting all day. It would have to be one really compelling situation or reason for me to consider putting myself through the inevitable hell of conscience that would follow killing a human being. I can think of one or two people who I've refrained from killing for that very reason: they just weren't worth it.

Nope. I value life and would not do it to anyone.
What if doing so would save two people?

And really, it's not a question of whether you "value" life or not -- almost everyone values life. But people have hierarchies of values. And even if life has the greatest of all value to you, assigning it infinite value leads to impractical conclusions when you start factoring that into decisions. Should we spend several thousand dollars doing roadwork that will save maybe 1 life every 20 years or so? Well, if the value of life is infinite, that's a justified expense. In fact, not doing that work would be an infinite loss.
