As long as this does not come in place of TES5, I'm more than curious and happy with this news. An extra game does no-one any harm, but I do want my TES5.

Pure music to my ears. If it's first person, I think I will be permanently aroused until I die.

EDIT: And probably after.
Be careful, first-person MMO's are no instant recipes for greatness. Just look at Darkfall... Next up is Mortal Online, if that fails, combat-wise, I'm going to be very skeptical about this MMO as well.

Mind you, I love the Elder Scrolls universe, and I'd love to see a well-done first-person MMO set in that universe. Note: well-done, anything less than great will be unacceptable. At least let it contain the whole universe, not just Daggerfall or Cyrodiil, but the whole of Tamriel.

If this is true, it makes me very curious how to implement every race and all that. Will they have each race start off in their respective territories, ala Dunmer start in Morrowind, Argonians start in the Black Marsh, Imperials start in Cyrodil, and so on so forth?

How will they do leveling up as well? Implement it like they normally do in TES, where each leveling up of a skill counts as one point to the EXP bar for leveling up as a whole? Or will the EXP go into straight leveling and each level up, you can add the points to the characteristics and skills like in KotOR and ME?

It just keeps creating questions!

I think this news will surprise precisely nobody. It's pretty much the only logical step forward... apart from, y'know, making Elder Scrolls 5 and stuff.

I'd be all over an Elder Scrolls MMO.

EDIT:

That's exactly how it's done in WoW, so I'd imagine so.

I hope its free to play and still be a FPS like it was in Oblivion because mmo's like WoW is so boring.

NO, ITS NOT. Atleast not for me, if you don't have to pay to play online then i should be fine with it. It better be for the console's too.

I love how it's either "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES" or "NONONONONONONONONO" in these comments.

I'm not too happy with the "World of Warcraft style" phrase that was used. I mean, god why the fuck would we want another WoW clone when you have an entire game like Elder Scrolls that doesn't need to be reduced down to point and click combat.

Let's just keep it to the formula we know will work: new single player Elder Scrolls, improved gameplay and graphics, new location and story, maybe something a little innovative.

The only problem I see is the intense ammount of time I spend using an invisibility spell while picking others pockets.

yes? no? yes? no? yes? no? yes? no?
I'm truly undecided wether this will be the best or the worst idea that they could've come up with.

Nooooooo :(

Bethesda better keep Elder Scrolls single player.
I agree. The last thing we need is another MMO to not spend my money on, and it's wasting the time of a great dev who could be making a Morrowind remake!

Bethesda, I am very disappoint.

SON OF A *****!

What the hell is going on?!

My favorite Roleplaying series are both being turned into MMOs rather than having proper, single player sequels. First it was Knights of the Old Republic now Elder Scrolls....what's next? Is Bioware going to announce Mass Effect 3 is going to be an MMO and Dragon Age 2 will be subtitled "The Origins of an Online Moneymaker"?!

Have you tried DDO:EU (it is free to play)? DDO's combat is more like a FPS than a MMO.
