Anyone that thinks that an MMO involving a world this enormous and a franchise this lucrative will be without a monthly subscription cost is just deluding themselves.

A TES MMO has been the topic of a lot of forum activity since at least Morrowind. There was a picture floating around awhile back that succinctly described why a TES MMO is a bad idea:

If that's what people want, fine. But I won't play it.

I may have to use "REAL MONEY" to now buy a computer to play this game. I owe it to elder scrolls 4.

and i bet you that you'll have to pay monthly like WoW loool instead of having to pay 40 or 50 bucks for a nice singleplayer/maybe they could have added coop?

Words to the effect of an epic NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I hate MMOs with a passion and when they kill one of my favourite franchises by giving it the WoW treatment it forces me to go outside and be social for fun. Smegs sake!

Im sure its a single player for Elder scrolls V , a multiplayer in the arena precinct would be good to meet and compete aginst other warriors inside the arena complex itself even jousting.

As for a MMO in an open world the size of Oblivion - realistically no

A single player covering the whole continent of tamriel on 3-5 discs would be awsome , but once again realistically no.

These rumours as usual are the work of typical yankee bullshit artists who have little time for anything else but to bring attention to themselves.
