Not originally a song I liked at all, but I had to listen to this 50s version again and again.

This too, hate the original, but I listened to his version several times. Only problem is now I actually know what the lyrics are, because he speaks clearly.

Well here we go, my music nerd has just been unleashed.

Mad World - Gary Jules
All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Knocking On Heavens Door - Guns N Roses
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Havana Affair - The Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Instead of doing the twenty long list I had planned I'll leave it at that. My keyboard is being a *****.

Fantomas' cover of 'The Godfather' theme tune.

Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society covering Ozzy Ozbourne's 'No More Tears.'

Pearl Jam's cover of 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away' by The Beatles.

Also, how about Mr. Bungle's cover of Tom Jones' 'Thunderball.'

All Along the Watchtower.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Not like I had a problem with the original, I just like the Hendrix version more.

Both Jimi Hendrix' covers of All Along the Watchtower and House of the Rising Sun, especially the latter because it's simply 5 minutes of guitar deliciousness. Surprised no-one mentioned House of the Rising Sun, while so many people are mentioning Hendrix.

Also Bear McCreary's version of All Along the Watchtower, mainly because I'm a massive Battlestar Galactica fanboy, but that version uses so many awesome instruments.

What, no-one's mentioned Jimi Hendrix's cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"? Hell, even Dylan prefers it!

I was about to say I was surprised no-one mentioned Wonderwall. Although I'd have thought lots of people would've mentioned the Oasis cover. Not that I'm a fan myself, but here in the UK it's something of a British anthem.

Johnny Cash's version of Hurt, Personal Jesus and Thirteen. I don't like covers, but he kicked the shit of Reznor, Depeche Mode and Danzig. And The Vandals cover of Queen's Don't Stop Me Now.

Land of Confusion covered by Disturbed is amazing, especially when combined with the video. the original is good. but disturbed gave it much more justice in my opinion.

I'm surprised I'm the first one to say this, but without a doubt "The Man who Sold the World" covered by Nirvana, originally by David Bowie. Another favourite of mine is "Brand New Cadillac", covered by The Clash, originally by Vince Taylor

Other notables are "Love Reign O'er Me" covered by Pearl Jam (originally by The Who), and "Superstar" covered by Sonic Youth (originally by The Carpenters).
