Now, now. We all know that anyone can make a video game. Marketing departments, public relations, even the custodians.John Funk said:Pretty sure that the sort of people involved in creating (marketing et al) this have nothing to do with actually making games.
Well, the link goes to the right page, but the link text is off; it's steganography, not stenography. Encrypted messages, not shorthand.John Funk said:The static turned out to be a code when fed through a stenography [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steganography] program
Whaaa? I know some Gregg and I felt all important there for a second and you made me feel bad.CyberKnight said:Well, the link goes to the right page, but the link text is off; it's steganography, not stenography. I'd like to see the message board threads in which people figure out this stuff. Who's the guy who says "Hey, that sounds like a BBS handshake! Let me go dig Kermit out." and then most people ask what the frog's got to do with it, while a small group are asking "How old are you?"....CyberKnight said:How people figure these things out is beyond me. I'm glad the internet is there to do the dirty work, because a lot of these leaps in logic just leave me going, "WTF?"
Mostly seconded. I mean, Episode 3 is scheduled to take place at the Aperture portal-boat-gone-wrong. So what's Portal 2 going to be about, completely unrelated shenanigans at the somewhat destroyed main lab? No, there's going to be strong connections, and I bet they both take place at the boat. Gordon's going to interact at least one portal in there, haha.ZeroDotZero said:I'm calling it now. Ep 3 and Portal 2 are one and the same.
At least valve will make sure it is the best 4 hours of your life .DirtyCommie said:Im starting to think its gonna be the next duke nukem forever. The funny thing is, IF it comes out, it will probably be like 4 hours long and have no closure to the story what so ever.
Heh, apparently, according to the update, it wasn't steganography either. Oops.Formica Archonis said:Whaaa? But yeah, that was bugging me too.
Now I'm feeling old. I just realized I haven't even used a modem since before my first son was born. (When was the last time you had to deal with "parity, data, and stop bits"?)Formica Archonis said:I'd like to see the message board threads in which people figure out this stuff. I can see an intertwined narrative happening stuff will happen in one and only be aparent why after playing the other or some crazy shit like thatrolan7 said:Mostly seconded. I don't have *quite* enough faith to say that they'll be the same game, but I do expect them to launch simultaneously in a discounted bundle. The infrared box or somesuch.
Mark my words, though: the next meme will involve "portholes".
