If I were terminal, I'd prefer just going around the country riding non-lethal roller coasters until I died on my own. Sure, some unsuspecting minimum wage schlub's gonna get an unpleasant surprise at the end of one of those rides - but hey, it's a character builder.

I'm also not a doctor, not yet atleast (stealing docterates is hard), but doesn't it take more than just a few seconds of going without blood for your brain to die? Thats one long rollercoaster you'd have to make. What if I, by some freak accident, survive. The rush of blood back into my head will NOT be euphoric - as opposed to a needle, which just puts a bit more poison into your blood.
He says your brain will be without blood for about a full minute.

When I linked the Euthanasia Coaster all I got was judgmental christians screaming of how wrong it is. Well it's still better then lying in a Missionaries of Charity home.

And yes, it is designed as an AS method. Nothing wrong with people choosing to end their life when they are terminally ill or suffer from quadriplegia.

Also, I would like it as an alternative to the electric chair. :D

"The rider has a few minutes to contemplate his decision and his life in retrospect. He would find enough time to adapt to the height and get through a series of imaginary fatal falls, while realizing that the objects on the ground are getting smaller," said Urbonas. "The slightest movement of the car would trigger intense heart-beating and goosebumps and most importantly it would test your decision. Therefore the very top of the tower is an ideal place to give the very last word."
So what happens if you get to the top of that massive drop, and you DO change your mind? How do they get you down? Airlift?

"Dealing with over population"? I thought it was weird first but that was the real WTF moment in the video for me....

What a stupid idea. Making roller coasters that killed people in Roller Coaster Tycoon was much too challenging to pull off correctly. These roller coaster designers should make a real-life version of the far more efficient way to kill people in that game, and put a little pond of deep water right outside of the ride's exit.

That sounds like a nice way too go, I think I'll still jump out of a airplane crashing in the middle of broadway. I'm gonna go out making headlines.

Wow. Can you imagine a more beautiful way to take your own life? Euphoric, gazing out at all of creation, visible as far as your eyes can see, never worrying about whether it will hurt, because you'll have no idea it's happening, just a blissful, serene rush into oblivion. Seeing the world rush by you, as you rushed through it, coming to a quite peaceful end. Imagine happily screaming, waving your arms in the air, coming to terms with both your own mortality and the infinite beauty of things around you...and letting that be your last conscious thought. If there was ever a way to go, that would be it.
Have you ever actually ridden a roller coaster?
Hundreds of them, hundreds of times. We used to buy season passes, and go most weekends in the summer and fall, as a group of friends. That exhilarant feel as you step off of a really good coaster, the one that makes you want to to it again...oh yes. One of my favorite staples of 'things to do when you move to new areas'. Why?

I wouldn't, I'd just pack explosives into a chair and fire myself at a wall at a couple hundred miles per hour, it'd be quicker

messier but far less weird and drawn out.

Why the 500FT tower?
they could just have the thing launched using electromagnetic tracks...

Oh God, where to begin....

Will people go up one at a time or together? Since this is an amusement park ride, will there be special discount days? Will they have cameras set up to take your picture for your next of kin? Will they sell T-shirts and hats and stuff? Who are they gonna get to pull the bodies out of the car once they're dead? Can you get the mortician to permanently affix that "YEARRRRRGH!" look on your face for the wake?

I see a number of people saying how they'd wanna go out, so I might as well chime in. I guess if I can't die with family and friends near by, the way I'd want to go out is giving my life for a cause. You know, making the ultimate sacrifice for something I value or for people I care about. That way I'd die knowing I was making a final difference, doing something that would benefit others and was doing something that would help ensure I was remembered in this life as well as the next.

Ok now my choice of "I'm gonna kill you slow or you kill yours self" got a new even better choice:

Death by roller-coaster!

(my previous would been a big bang!)

But some how I also find it somewhat disturbing,.. building a machine just to kill yourself, o well humans are great at doing it so why not. (thinking of stuff like nukes, H-bombs, bigger better guns...)

It's interesting, but I prefer to leave the ethical musing to the time when someone actually tries to construct one. My feelings are mixed to be honest, because I'm pretty anti-suicide. Truthfully I think the controls that would have to be put on something like this for Euthenasia would prevent it from ever being profitable, so the odds of finding investors strike me as being minimal.

My first thought however is that this might make an interesting way for some gadget obssessed villain like Arcade or The Joker to kill people in comics. The reality of construction never seems to come into play in comic book logic. :)

Who else instantly thought this was a ride straight from Futurama?

Like suicide booths, but in a suicide themepark.
