The "Look at me I am cool" was an intentional exaggeration just like the other part of my "quoted" sentence. I still think some of the comments were somewhat snobbish, granted there are ironic ones too. Anyway there is no reason to shout out one's disappointment in the world if he reads a comment of someone who didn't watch Blade Runner. So what if he didn't? Maybe it's a young poster, maybe he doesn't like SF or maybe he wasn't aware how idolised the particular sentence is and never remembered it from the movie he saw (While nobody's asking - yeah I got the reference from the comic itself).Simriel said:Blade Runner, like A New Hope, and Logans Run is one of the films on which all modern sci-fi of any media is based. This isn't a 'Look at me I am cool' thing, this is paying tribute to one of the very bright and original stars of the entire genre.
It's not a 'cult' classic at all! OMG! It's a bona-fide sci-fi classic that changed the look of sci-fi films from then to now. Calling a cult classic is insulting to what it is.Zombie_Fish said:To be fair, it's not as if it's the most well known of cult classic films. I only heard about it myself earlier this year when me and my dad were talking about Philip K. Dick's work and he mentioned this film being an adaptation of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and watched it a short while afterwards. Chances are people would have as much chance understanding this quote out of the blue as they would if I just decided to say "Malcovich. Malcovich Malcovich Malcovich." all of a sudden without any hints towards where it came from.Susan Arendt said:I am sorely disappointed in the number of people who've not seen Blade Runner. Sorely. Disappointed.
Anyway, great comic. Loved the Pulp lyrics right at the end as well as the Duckhunt joke.
Hahaha. Just noticed this now. Excellent my friend, excellent.Buzz Killington said:Fixed that for you. Also:Mangue Surfer said:If this comic had sound, probably they would put Sepultura Bauhaus playing Bela Lugosi's Dead.
"You're reading along on a website when you see a comic strip that references Blade Runner. Everyone around you is cracking up, but you're not laughing."
"What do you mean, I'm not laughing?"
"I mean you're not laughing. Why is that, Leon?"
