Yup, pretty funny.
Although the tagline is a bit misleading. Imo, even the horrors of "realizing your own descending into mediocrity" can't compare to "money".
As a creator of creative content myself, you are sorely mistaken. :)
Ahh, different priorities, I guess.
Don't take that I'm a money whore, it's just that I sincerely doubt SE care at this point.
It's okay. For Square-Enix, money is the bottom line. For any successful business, it's the bottom line. That's why Squaresoft and Enix merged. For the mountains of cash that each one was sure they could spoon feed each other.

But on the individual level... that's a whole 'nother bag. To say you made something loved and remembered as strongly as Final Fantasy 7 is a moment of pride I only hope to be able to experience one day. To have it both loved, and financially successful, means you're a king among men in the business world. And the realization that you've hit your peek 10 years ago, and nothing you've done, can do, or will ever do again can ever match that one star in the sky... well, it's sort of a depressing thought.
But not for everyone that realization is so depressing.
I mean, sure, he might have hit his peak a long time ago but he can still make quality product and isn't that the most important part of all?
I suppose it would depend on how he feels about his lifes accomplishments. Having created a god among RPG's for history to remember might be enough for him to be satasfied. But FF7 was over 10 years ago, and in my personal opinion, nothing he's created since has come close. 10 years is a long time, and satasfaction doesn't last that long. If something like FF7 was his lifes ambition, then yay. :) I just know that if it were me in his shoes, FF7 would be at the top of my design resume, but I'd always be striving to top it.

(I don't feel that he's learned what made the game such a massive hit. Like he got lucky.)

Too true. FF7 just has that certain "something" that even if you loathe it, and a lot do, you can't help being passionate about loathing it.

hehe, that was funny.

I'm surprised they haven't remade it yet.

A remake would be good for everyone.

The fans get their game.
Square gets mountains of money.
And the rest of us will finally be able to live in a world where we don't have to hear everyone beg for a remake.
Then we get to live in a world where everyone complains that the remake ruined the game. If it ever does happen I'm not sure whether or not I'd want it to be voice acted. One hand I like giving them imaginary voices in my head on the other it'd be hilarious to hear Barret say something along the lines of "Yo cracka".

Back on track at first I didn't think this comic would be that great but it's grown on me.

Yeah true. Plus if it was voiced you couldn't name everyone Bob. Which would surely kill many comedic gold moments.

I only stumbled upon this series now (I'll give you a hint: FF7 was in the title). This gave me some hidden void of responsibility that rarely surfaces from the bowels of my soul to see the other pages. And I did.

It was awesome.

How does effectively doubling the amount of bad fanfiction and pictures of crappy Cloud cosplays on the internet benefit me exactly?

As for the cosplay:
It gives you more people to laugh at.
It'll definitely give me more people to laugh at.

As for the fanfiction:
Um... shit...

Ok, so not everything will be better.

Thank you! And we will have story arches every once in a while but the occasional video game jokes will just be thrown in aside randomness. WE KNEEL BEFORE NO RULER!

I stopped laughing at Cloud cosplayers a long time ago. Now they just kind of make me sad inside.

I played all of the FF VII spin-offs.
Imho Crisis Core was better than FF VII.
Altough I really loved FF VII.
About the rest...
...well, let's just say I would rather put sulfuric acid into my eyes than playing any of the other spin-offs again....
But, as mentioned before, it's about the money, and as long as you got fanboys who buy everything labeled FF, why stop beating a dead horse?
If Nintendo can do it, why not SquareEnix?
Maybe, because they sometimes care about what they release?
I dunno -_-

btw:
Critical Miss is awesome.
Every strip made me laugh very hard...
..keep up the good work !!!

To hell with FF7. FF6 is not only deserving of a REAL remake, but considering the setting it's also ideal for this generation.
