Are people really this pissy over not being able to make stupid symbols?

In most servers on the PC, if you have a disgusting/offensive spray, you get either booted or banned. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should, and it doesn't mean nobody else should do something about it either. Because if you don't do something, someone else will.

It is your right to be an ass. But its MS's/Treyarch's, the admin's, and other's right to do something about it.

So wait, people are being perma banned for having these apparently offensive tags? Are these just suspensions or what?
Didn't call of duty start out as a Nazi murdering game? Isn't there a Nazi murdering mini-game in black ops? Oh how i love Microsoft.

Comparing XBL bans to the holocaust is absurd and tasteless.
I imagine that this is the joke.

That the trolls who get banned act like they are being treated like holocaust victims because their "human rights" are being violated.

Eh, I went back and read all your posts, so I have a clearer reference here.

Just because you CAN laugh at something doesn't mean you SHOULD. Imagine if your dog died, and someone stood of to the side and laughed while pointing for an hour. Would you be good with that?

I probably wont laught with them, but i also wont call the cops and demand that they be crucified...
(unlike so many, sensitive xbl users, who didnt like my freakin name, cuz they have a mother)

do tell friend what would youy actions be? if I were laguhing at your dogs corpse, while were on the toopic and all...
(cudos to you, i would have never thought about making fun of someones dead pet, or laughing at charred jew remains, if it were not for your imspiration.)
I didn't mention Jewish remains...

And as to how I would respond?

<youtube=VGQ_FDmoDZI>

Your psychological scarring.

And despite what you seem to think, the general population are not oversensitive douches. Simple "crowd logic" says that you're just an INsensitive douche.

[fuck you moderator]
You'd probably laugh at the burnt remains of the Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. Either that or you don't realize theres a difference between making a joke and joking about the deaths of several million people. Because that's what I'm getting from your posts.

Although being an asshole didn't really help...

im not deffending peoples right to put up swaztickas...
im proposing that because you dont not find a swazticka made of dicks funny, you want no one else to find it funny either...
facist much...
my way or they highway is what people like you promote...

edit: I dont think that death is funny! You are the one who had that thought first...
(even though its not your belief)
I'm not being facist. I'm being reasonable. If you want a penis in your symbol whatever, most people will see you as a dick for it, but whatever makes you happy. Or laugh, as you put it. Having a swastiska in your symbol on the other hand is a whole 'nother deal. The swatiska (to most people) brings to mind the horrors inflicted by the Nazi party before and during WW2. Putting a swastika in your symbol means you might as well be saying "I don't really care if 6 million people were murdered all just because of there ethnicity". Like I said before, there's laughing at something and then there's laughing while pissing on someones grave.

I not one of those people who believes in total free speech. There are some things that go too far, like hate crimes and such. Call me a facist if you want, but my point still stands. You can't dance on someone's grave then ignore people's protests by claiming their facist.

Plus you did buy the game on their system. You essentially agreed to play by their rules. If you don't like it, find another place that will let you do what you want.

As much as I love bashing trolls and being genuinely pleased that they are being banned from XBOX Live for lude avatars, this comic was in very poor taste given the work it is interpreted from, and I hope no others like it are published here again.

"First they came ..." is a famous statement attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892?1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group. The text of the quotation is usually presented roughly as follows:

They came first for the Socialists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

THAT'S the one I was thinking of. I'm not sure where all these Roman references are coming from, because the text on the comic is based 100% on Not My Business. If I was certain about the meaning of 'paraphrase' I might even say that that's what it is. Is it?
You honestly think they would base a webcomic on a basic GCSE level poem?

This comic was hilarious. The Holocaust poem pushed the boundaries of humor, but I like my comedy to have an edge to it, and in reference to swastikas it is wonderfully ironic.

For the poor folks that actually do use the swastika for their religious and cultural purposes this is likely one more in many conflicts with western culture over that symbol. It certainly does suck when a mustached douche bag takes your symbol and uses it during warmongering and mass murder.

You have been successfully trolled by some webcomic authors. Take a bow.
Ummm...no I haven't.

Unless A. The definition of trolling has been greatly laxened and B. the author basically decided that being not funny was worth "trolling" me specifically, then no.

Although you've just unlocked the "apologist" achievement.
Okay, insofar as the definition of trolling is to fuck with people, you've decided that for whatever pithy reason you found a parody of the a statement about German intellectuals during the rise of Nazism, tasteless, you've let it attack your (over)sensibilities about a subject matter that was never taboo, and is actually relevant to what is happening with Black Ops on Xbox Live.

How's your 'Pointless Contrarian' achievement looking..?

You are not a fascist. Your viewpoint is entirely reasonable and it is one I can agree or disagree with without calling you names. On this subject, I entirely ok with censorship within a private community which X-box live is. Automatically there is a check on whether management goes to far by the loss of traffic and game sales. If they go to far, no one will play their games. However, I draw the line in a public forum where a government steps in to interfere with free speech. That is troubling. Even in democracies 49% of people's rights can be trampled on if 51% of the rest of the people are for it.

If you're gunna let people design their own emblems, then LET THEM DESIGN THEIR OWN EMBLEMS!
It's the Xbox Live people banning, not Treyarch, so I don't think they care if you use the emblem, However you don't get your online subscription from them. Altough I find it hilarious that I can have a donkey grabbing a guys pickle but I can't name a class 'Assault' due to profanity.
Yeah, I noticed that. Who is going to be offended by my supposed profanity, my girlfriend sitting next to me? Seriously, why is there a profanity filter on class titles when no one can see them. Also, why bother with a profanity filter in CoD where it's all you will hear except for the occasional person who will actual try to coordinate and warn his teammates?

There are consequences for acting like an idiot in real life. It's about time the same happens for the internet. It's a shameful fact that people use online social networking as a form of escapism to be douchebags. What does that say about us, people in general, that we have to go online, hide behind anonymity so we can act like twats? Does that mean the majority of us do not actually have a shred a decency on the inside? When people act idiotic online, that's exactly what it means to me.

I don't tend to read these anymore, because I think they're crap, but this one is beyond the pale. First you use as a title one of the greatest and most moving works of English poetry ever and apply it to the XBox live, then in the comic you compare XBL Bans to the holocaust.

Do you have a sense of proportion? Or do you really think that 6 million people being taken away from their friends, families, and lives, and gassed to death simply because they had another religion than the norm is equatable to a corporation banning people who have tasteless avatars?

If you don't have a sense of proportion then I pity you, if you really think the two are comparable then I hold you in the deepest contempt I have for this disgusting comic.

The point they're making in the comic is that the people who get banned feel like it's the holocaust and that it's stupid. It's not serious at all. It' a parody, a satire.

EDIT: I also find it completely hilarious that in a thread a couple of days ago, most people were fine with swatsikas because they have more meanings, and now all the complaints here because the author of this comic used a poem about the holocaust?

Oh god the researching! I can't stop!
Oh my.

The way that guy stares into my soul from every Wikipedia article. I can't help it, I have to give him money. And my keys. And everything I own.

OT: Seriously, great comice, guys. I'm not against free speech or anything, but the way everyone on here ran to defend those guys' rights to draw swastikas in their emblems had me really weirded out.

Those are swastikas, guys. Whatever the origin of the symbol is, you know what it represents now.

Stop it.

Also, I'm glad to see that no Black Ops related thread could go without one or two posts that go:
Did you know that Black Ops sucks? 'Cause it totally does. Really. It sucks.
Did you not notice that I don't like the game? 'Cause I don't. I've already made 50 posts saying how much it sucks.
Is it enough? No. Because Black Ops sucks.
Oh, wait, this comic actually has fairly little to do with Black Ops, and more with free speech? Kind of cool.
But the game still sucks.
You don't have to like the game. But you probably shouldn't imply everyone who's playing it is in the wrong and is wasting his time.

what if i said that you should be punished for finding the chicken crossed the road joke funny
cuz taht chickens life was in danger.

sadly thats the way i feel about this swazticka buissness.
if you dont like it, dont look at it...

these people who are puting up hatefull stuff, paid good money to have taht option.

My line sits somewhere between mass murder and dead baby jokes (apparently, I'm not above gallows humor), and people tell me that even that goes to far.

So I keep the black humor to a minimum.

What a bizarre concept.
