Then, it my duty to point out all of these games, which have had even more skimpy characters/unlockables for sometimes years before Mortal Kombat 9.

Duke Nukem 3D
Soul Caliber 3
Soul Caliber 4
Onichanbara
Darkstalkers
Resident Evil 5
Marvel versus Capcom 2
Marvel versus Capcom 3
Dead or Alive 2, 3, 4, and Beach Volleyball
Final Fantasy X and X-2
Final Fantasy XII

Feel free to point out more, but frankly, if you think the Partial Nudity in Mortal Kombat 9 is worth taking note of, where have you been for the past nine years?

(No. The comic was quite bland to me.)
LOL I think Darkstalkers, MvC 2 and MvC 3 take the cake considering that Felicia is fully naked. That fur is part of her body XD

VWOOT! We finally got full nudity in a game and didn't catch hell for it!!
Kind of weird how that went unnoticed, isn't it?

That said, I never even noticed the outfits with the women in MK9, even when some folks point it out. Sheeva's, maybe, but everyone else's didn't bother me at all, so I don't get what makes the ones in this game stand out when there are so many other examples you could use.

Still, this is a very old topic, so I should be too surprised.

What makes Mortal Kombat 9 stand out is saturation. I have no problem with skimpy outfits. What I dislike is when there isn't a single female character who doesn't have her tits hanging out (This includes the Special Ops operator who's wearing what appears to be the worlds skimpiest life jacket). There is one female character in the game who isn't wearing high heels. She's barefoot.

Anyone notice how no-one ever makes the point that Johnny Cage and Lui Kang are forced to fight completely without a shirt? So, what, beefcake is fine, but we're not allowed cheesecake?
Actually whenever this discussion comes up someone always brings up that one of the male characters isn't wearing a shirt as if it's a counterpoint. Counterpoints, in order.

A:) Saturation, again. Johny Cage is one male character out of about twenty. The rest are mostly clothed, if not armoured. None of the female characters are wearing even reasonable clothing.

B:)Character. Johny Cage is a humongous douchebag. So his bare chest and honking great tattoo fit his character. Sonya, on the other hand, complains bitterly about people not taking her seriously and is offended when Cage assume she isn't a badass super soldier and is in fact an exotic dancer. The fact she's dressed like a military themed stripper never seems to occur to her.

C:) Bare male chests are not the same as bare female chests. Physically and socially (perhaps unfairly) when a man rips off his shirt in a public space (that isn't a beach) in my experience it's for one of two reasons. Either he's on fire or he's about to get in a fight. Can you say the same for women? A topless man is interpreted by other men (the target audience of MK I might add) as aggressive and confrontational, not so for topless, or nearly topless women.

The physical aspect is easy. Tits are big bags of fat. They are heavy. They are mobile. It'd be like fighting with two weights attached to your nipples by strings. If Kitana tried to throw say... a hook in that outfit the centrifugal force of her massive norks would send her hurtling off the side of the arena like one of those pod racers from star wars.

The fact that i imagined Shao Kahn's lines in this comic strip with his exact voice from the game really made this week's very funny for me. Great job.

It thanks to Rooster Teeth Immersion episode on female fighting clothing, the skimpy clothing cannot stay on!
Still I laugh at today comic strip. It remind me of this other similar one but with Ivy and Cervantes from Soul Calibur.
You mean this thing right here:

I'ma go and watch all of these now.

"Daddy issues" explains sooooo much! I literally laughed after reading this! (I'm too god for overused 3-letter acronyms).

"And don't forget to put on some high heels!" made me chuckle some :p Although... if one can manage to somehow (through magic) keep balance then the heels could become excellent weapons!

if Kitana dressed like that, my innate ability to be good with any female character would be nullified with her. My power is drawn from the same power as wishful thinking perhaps?

It's sad when a comic is funny for all the wrong reasons. I think Goro probably shouldn't be in the same paragraph as the word sheep.

Fair enough, but I have to say in response: This is only as big an issue as the individual wants it to be. Having played every game since the first, I more or less expected this for MK9, and it doesn't bother me. That's my opinion, though.

(I know Sheeva is barefoot. All Shokan are.)

Don't forget the OTHER problem: They're "two strips of leather held tenously together by wishful thinking" that don't change from one character to another other then color scheme.

ahaha, killer komik.

I'm actually more put off by how their outfits are still mostly just color-swapped versions of each other. Actually... I guess there's only so many ways you can have straps of leather look.

LOL

To be fair, there are about 5 Scorpions (or Sub-Zeros depending on which you prefer) in the franchise, so atleast there's no gender discrimination when it comes to lack of originality.

I think I know what this magic force is that keeps the clothes on: Extra Strength Rip Block or ?ESRB?

The sheer will of this force keeps the clothing on.
Funny magic material that. It's strong enough to prevent a wardrobe malfunction, but not strong enough to prevent the wearer from suffering a violently bloody wound. Makes you wonder....
