It seems you were right, we are polar reflections of each other.
I loved the hell out of that movie.
I don't think we should ever meet, because if we do, either the universe will collapse or we'll start fighting.
Probably the second one.

"borat"? really, critics?
this movie had 100% on imdb?

sure, it's funny, but it's barbaric, cheap and retarded.
for people pretending to have good taste they sure like watching crap.

Titanic is incredibly boring and shallow (No pun intended), also I didn't like Avatar, in fact screw you James Cameron, you used to make good movies, now its all 3D.

Seriously, someone is hating on The Great Gatsby, despite its vivid descriptions, entertaining plot and identifiable characters? Why on earth would you do that? I loved it, first time I read it.

EDIT: oooh someone said Twitter. Thats a good one.

I'll be boring and say Avatar. Liked the movie but I can't see what all the fuss is about, I really just don't get it. I'd like to know so I can use the same strategy and make billions! Mwhahahaha

The Wii is next on my list, it's just another one of those big mediocre gimmicks. Yeah some of the games are good but 98% of the games are extremely shallow and the console itself has some very noticable flaws. And I fucking hate the remotes!

And last and possibly least, Modern Warfare 2 for it's unoriginal everything and unbalanced everything. It has to be all the gimmicks and the controversy it stirred because I didn't find it any better than any other online FPS.

I'm not sure if these were critically acclaimed but their popularity soared higher than anything else.

Pokemon games.

I can understand when kids play those games. But grown ups? Go play some new and real JRPG.

And Wall-E.
I agree on that one. It is not particularly bad, but it is not good either. I found it pretty but boring, the character was likeable but its design was not new (it looked like a short version of Jhonny-5, a similarity I am surprised few people notice), and the enviromental aesop felt like a sermon and was handled horribly. In my oppinion, it is the lowest in Pixar career, and not even close to the best animated movie of that year...

Bioshock.

I went into it expecting a masterpiece of game design that would make me think about morals and society and all those other words people use to make a big deal out of something and I just found it boring. Hell I can't even bring myself to finish it.

StarCraft player Lim "SlayerS_`BoxeR`" Yo-Hwan is easily the most overhyped progamer in existance. Do not get me wrong, I respect what the guy did for the e-Sports industry, but he was hardly the only one to do so and certainly not the first one. But more then that, fanboys worship him like a god and it makes me want to puke.

I also do not understand what people saw in the Titanic. It was completely wrongly propagated as the worst sea disaster in history and it was nothing more but a glorified soap opera. Even the movie Rise of the Titanic was mildly more interesting. The music was not bad, though.

That said, I do not think I have ever encountered a case in gaming where I did not either like the game that was highly praised or understand that it was not for me and understand why others may like it. I could be wrong though, since the mind is a slippery thing.

EDIT: Ironically, the previous poster reminded me of Bioshock, which I partially did not get. It was not bad, but the actual gameplay was rather horrendous.

Actually, the one I never understood from recent memory is "There Will Be Blood" which absolutely demolished the Oscars here a year or two back. I mean I sat down and watched the movie and I get what they were going for but ambiance alone doesn't make for good charachter development. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the film, but I like Daniel Day Lewis a lot more when he's producing performances like Bill The Butcher from "Gangs of New York." I mean he absolutely carried that entire film when he was on screen and in this he just struck me as a single minded douche that learned nothing and evolved into nothing.

Just my two cents of course.

Pretty much that. Justin Bieber's out of a town about an hour away from me, so people here are extra obsessed with him, and I fucking hate him. I wish I could stomp his face into the floor while urinating on Stephanie Meyer and strangling her.

Okay, so neither of those things are critcally acclaimed, they're just popular with teenyboppers, but that doesn't stop me from hating them.

Avatar had good visuals and sound, definitely. The closest thing I can compare it to is Star Wars. Both have unoriginal plots (Star Wars is a little more original, while Avatar is essentially FernGully on steroids), bad acting, poor scripts, and incredible effects. However, Star Wars gets itself done in an hour and a half, before it runs out of things to show us. Avatar shows us its spaceships, HomeTree, the Tree of Souls, then it sort of runs out of things to do, but continues FOR ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF.

Halo. I found it boring.

I haven't played the multiplayer, but I found the single player campaign of CoD 4 very boring.

Lord of the Rings. Again, too boring. I read about 200 pages of the trilogy, and stopped after that. This is one of the few cases where I've liked the movies more than the books the movies are based on.

I get why I don't like stuff and know the reason why the mindless masses like stuff......and know I am a bastard for it.

Critical acclaim=popular for paid media snobs.

edit:I will ditto the Bioshock statements here as a game it fails on so many levels as a "visual medium"(think film) its midly interesting.

Glee and anything done by David Lynch or Tim Burton. I have no idea why they are popular
Glee = high school musical for TV
and
Lynch = Pretentious wankery
Burton = ok he has one or two good movies ( Mars Attacks! and Edward Scissorhands) apart from those two films i have hated everything else he has ever made.

I don't get Avatar...right it was Dances with Wolves, Last Samurai, Fern Gully, blah blah, insert other movies that were much more groundbreaking, in space.

It was ok on the special effects, and I kind of liked the story but it was by no means what people made it out to be.

Is Twilight critically acclaimed? I thought it was just popular to massive amounts of rabid preteen and mid teen girls. I can't believe anyone outside that demographic would even watch it.

Not sure if it was critically acclaimed or not, but I hated the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. The original was pretty good, the remake was a preachy diatribe on why man is 'evil' and had no redeeming qualities to speak of. Plus there were some large continuity issues that I hated.

Other than that, most stuff produced by Hollywood, including the people. If it gets critical acclaim, its most likely on my no watch list. I'll make exceptions for stuff that's actually good.

the elder scrolls (all of them), Fallout 3 and every RPG with combat ala WOW or diablo.
the elder scrolls just couldn't entertain me how hard i tried to be entertained, it was just not gonna happen, same thing for Fallout 3 wich was just oblivion but in a new setting but i really like the post apocalyptic genre (i've watched the Colony al the way to the end) and the combat in most RPG's is just the same thing. the RPG's where i liked the combat were: gothic 1,2,3 and risen.

Since when was Justin Bieber critically acclaimed?
These recent months and thanks to the incident in Australia which only proves how stupid fangirls are.
I live in Australia, I must know what happened to apologize on behalf of my country if we did something retarded.
A bunch of Bieber fans acted out in hast because of the cancelling of his "concert" and some ended up in the hospital over it.
