-Numerous bugged quests that either won't launch, or won't trigger following sequences properly.
-30% of the game was hacked out with an axe for a christmas release, on an already short development cycle
-No options to choose whether you want Mira/Hanharr or Brianna/Mical regardless of gender or alignment
-Lack of influence options for certain characters. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, it is next to impossible to -gain the proper influence with everybody to get certain story elements
-Visuals, while improved from KOTOR 1, suffer from a total lack of light sources. Everything is well lit, ambient light doesn't exist, giving everything this drab, flat feel
-Very unbalanced boss fights. God help you if you don't take Mandalore or a Melee tank to deal with the Sith Lord trio on Dxun, or if you haven't been building up your health for your fight with any of the Jedi masters.
-The ability to completely break the game by going dual blaster Jedi, using the proper upgrades to bypass shields altogether and kill enemies in one volley
-BUILD YOUR OWN FUCKING LIGHTSABER. Meaning that, rather than just going to a junk shop and getting the parts you need, you have to go on this wild fucking goose chase across Nar Shaddaa to get the pieces you need from random quest givers

to be honest it's hard for me to get mad about this game when it had such a short development cycle..there are plenty of things to improve but that would've required time.

-The in-game trainers don't use any in-depth strategy at all, making it super easy to just sweep through their entire team. Most of the time, when you don't win against a tough trainer, it's because your monsters aren't at a high enough level, not because you're going about the battle the wrong way
-Certain legendary Pokemon being obtainable only through promotional events sucks. I'll probably never get my hands on a Mew or a Celebi.
-Forcing me to teach my party Pokemon battle-useless HM moves to get to cool areas.

The lip synching is awful. One could claim that the character models are designed in the way they are to fit with the theme, but the speaking animations are just off. Also, the latter part of the game contains a large tower section, where if you fall, you're going to fall back to the start. Also not helped by awquard jumps and the camera facing slightly downward while using Levitation.

I'm not entirely sure, but in all of the mangas 'Ash' is Red and 'Gary' is Blue. People seem to go from that.

The graphics are horribly out-dated but that's not this buggy game's worse offense. No Windows version; DOS only. And the few emulators I've seen run this game have only added to the already unstable gameplay. Worth checking out? Not in the least. Give Warlock: Master of the Arcane a try instead.

Sorry, Deus Ex... I'm doing this because I love you.

1. Graphics: Even at its time of release back in 2000, the graphics of Deus Ex were fairly primitive. They were especially unimpressive given how taxing they were on systems of the time. To make matters worst, most of the game's animations were incredibly robotic and clunky. The end result is a game that was visually unspectacular and aged very badly at an incredibly rapid pace. There are plenty of mods out there attempting to rectify this issue, but there's only so much they can really do without having to rebuild the game from the ground up.

2. Sound: Many of the game's sound effects are fairly generic. While they're adequate for their purposes, there's nothing about them to really 'wow' a player.

3. Voice Acting: Hilariously bad. It's pretty obvious that the majority of the voice acting work was recruited from people around the offices or friends-of-friends. There's some quality voice acting here and there, but it tends to be the exception rather than the rule. The attempts to simulate New Yorker accents, Chinese accents, and French accents are particularly bad and lead to a significant amount of hilarious stereotyping and sometimes even unintentional racism.

4. Gameplay: Like the animation, much of the gameplay is pretty clunky. The combat in particular is atrocious. Enemies will charge straight at you spraying their guns in your general direction, making no attempt whatsoever to avoid your own shots. If you're trying to be stealthy and an enemy is alerted to your presence, they'll give up in mere seconds (An enemy can clearly spot you, like perfect view of you, then if you duck around a corner the enemy will wander around for a few seconds, say something dumb about how it must have been his imagination, then go back onto patrol... even if that patrol paths directly over the corpses of his buddies).

5. RPG Elements: Most of the RPG elements don't actually change anything. Some conversation options may cause slightly different short-term outcomes, but they have little effect on any long-term situations. There are a few decisions you can make as a player that actually have significant long-term consequences, but they can be counted on one hand. You're given the option to develop your character's abilities by allocating skill points, but frankly, most of the choices (like Swimming) are completely worthless. While Augmentations can add some unique abilities to your character, they're horribly unbalanced (Regeneration Augmentation > All Other Augmentations), most of them are incredibly situational, and are more or less completely unnecessary to complete the game.

6. Characters: There are some genuinely good characters, but the vast majority of them are tired cliches. Most characters, even major ones, you'll only see once or twice during the entire course of the game. More often than not, if you're hearing from a major character, it's because they're communicating directly to you through your Infolink and you can't respond to them.

7. Story: There are some genuinely decent twists and turns, but at the end of the day, the story is fairly generic as well. Additionally, the game encounters some awkward pacing in a number of areas that lead to strange and rapid changes in the perceived urgency for your objectives.

8. Multiplayer: This wasn't available at launch, and was tacked on post-release. While it had some good ideas that were somewhat ahead of the time, the execution was pretty flawed. The result was an unbalanced, laggy mess with few active players even during its height.

Let me get my mean reviewer mindset...okay.

Metro 2033 is just a hot mess of good ideas that fell short. To begin with, the graphics seem slightly dated. The human features all have a sort of dead porcelain doll stare to them, no emotion, wide eyes. The voice acting in this game-at least by the English actors-is horrendous. Some of the worst fake accents I've heard in some time, added to just plain voice acting in-general (once you hear one annoying little boy, you'll despise every little boy in the game, because they are all voiced by the same annoying little boy). Outside of scripted motions, AI movement is a bit choppy, and even during cutscenes there are odd motion glitches.

The gunplay in the game is absolutely nothing to write home about. I found myself more often just charging human enemies with a knife than wanting to engage them with firearms (and, hilariously enough, the Throwing Knife weapon tends to deal more damage than bullets, tell me how that works). The first gun you get in the game is comically called/played off as a "Bastard gun," because it overheats and chews through ammo, while being totally inaccurate. Probably the only weapon that really seemed as effective as it should have been is the double-barrel shotgun you get early in the game; forget the combat shotgun, bayonet or not, the CS is so incredibly WEAK that it's even outclassed by the regular Revolver, the first weapon you find in the game. Top that off with the already bad gunplay and you may as well be fighting with rocks.

The stealth mechanic is complete garbage, and it is basically always better just to run in, guns blazing, save for the underground mission on the Red/Nazi occupied bridge, where you'll be wasted within five seconds by a literal army.

They introduced this mechanic where the best ammunition you can find (Military Grade) is also the currency of the metro, however, you can also use this ammunition to deal more damage in an emergency. This would have been an amazing mechanic in the game...were it not so easy to find and buy new ammunition. Honestly, even on the hardest difficulty it's easy to keep yourself stocked with ammo. You can always pick up any kind of ammunition, and certain "special" weapons you can grab sell for a lot-as well as their ammo. Chances are you won't find ammunition for this weapon for another level or so, so it's easier to just sell them at the shops and restock the ammo for guns you have. In fact, you'll almost always want to grab a weapon that sells better, because chances are good that the weapon you dropped to pick it up will be found again soon, or a better one (for instance, AK-47's become extremely plentiful by about the halfway mark of the game, and yet they make such a big deal about you getting one from one of the characters, when you begin finding them one mission later).

On top of that, you never-EVER-find another shop after the 2/3rd mark of the story. You will actually meet up with the Rangers (Metro's version of "RUSSIA, FUCK YEAH" soldiers) and they will literally GIVE YOU a choice of the best type of gun for each slot of your weapons inventory FOR FREE, meaning you will have no purpose for any MG ammunition you have saved from the final shop after the first 2/3rds.

The good points would have to be the secret caches you can find, along with the music and atmosphere, but even this gets ridiculous when you eventually head to a nuclear weapons facility only to fight a giant mutated amoeba-spewing fungus.

1. Main Character dies = Game Over.

One fucking Mudo or Hama and you're outta there. I'm glad Golden at least tended to this issue by allowing you to start over at the beginning of the floor that you died on.

2. Combat can become monotonous at some stages.

You'll see the same set of enemies when you run around a dungeon and will soon fall into a pattern. "Oh look, this group of enemies again. Let's start with a Magarula with Yosuke, Marigion with Yukiko, All-Out Attack, Win. Repeat."

Apart from the story and atmosphere..Everything sucked..Stealth was wonky, combat felt like nothing more than get into cover and "Juice em" with bullets. (even on the hardest, minimal ammo mode, found it easier due to kill do to not having to shoot them as much.)

Mass Effect 3. Ho boy, too easy.

- Bugs. (Not sticking to cover properly, enemies glitching out and avoiding hits or becoming invincible, enemies "seeing" you when they shouldn't, enemies walking through walls, etc, etc)

- Cheating bastard enemies. The game is a perfect poster child on how to do difficulty completely wrong.
--- Banshees can teleport through walls and insta-kill you before you have time to turn around and run away.
--- Geth hunters immune to stuns and in some cases still fire off shotgun rounds seconds after they're dead.
--- Banshees, Phantoms and Praetorians have anti-biotic bubbles that make power heavy classes like Adepts useless vs. them.
--- Enemies standing over your corpse and instantly killing you the second you try to revive.
--- Enemies being able to grab and suck you back in to insta-kill you even though you were well out of range.
--- The geth faction have an absurd amount of units with stun abilities. Getting stunlocked to death is a very common occurance.

- The stupid multiplayer random equipment unlocks.

- Lack of true side-missions. No planets to visit other then the main story ones, no mercenaries to kill, no prothean digsites to explore.

- The pre-extended-cut ending. While I actually wasn't quite as bothered as some people, the original ending did have a lot of gaps. (The extended cut was sweet and fixed most of the problems IMO)

The game is flawed, oh so very very flawed. But it's still so damn much fun.

Not "favorite" per se, but an old, obscure game with a lot of problems that I still love: Evil Genius.

Now it's a 100% accurate movie villain simulator, so obviously you can't do anything yourself (except gloat over your captured foes). Instead, you give your minions orders. Thing is, the minion AI could be charitably described as abysmal - minions will often stand next to a fire and decide to go get the fire extinguisher 2 corridors over instead of the one right next to them.

Some might say that this is part of the flavor - you wouldn't be a real evil genius if your minions weren't as thick as a cartload of bricks, right? Thing is, even when it works right, it is sloooow. Everything in the game has an animation. Minions leaving the island to go to the world map. World map minions bringing back loot. Minions building. Minions repairing things. Science (more on this later). Everything takes a while. And eventually, you get tired of waiting.

Room and Item descriptions are usually incomplete at best, too. The game itself only gives you a rough idea of what you're supposed to do - you pretty much have to figure out the how. I've played this game twice over and I still need to have the Evil Genius wiki open just to make sure I don't f**k up. (Big props to the wiki guys though; that thing is a lifesaver!)

Special mention goes to the science & research system. Basically in order to unlock new item blueprints, you need to combine an existing blueprint selected by your scientists (which is slow and, worst of all, random) with 1 to 3 lab room experiments. The game doesn't outright tell you which three though, not without you spending thousands upon thousands of dollars bribing the researchers not to waste your time (not even making this up. this is the canon reason: your researchers love to research for the hell of it and will waste your time given the chance). Thankfully, one of the three Evil Genius avatars, the Blofeld/Napoleon expy, reduces the cost of that bribe by 90%...or would, if his ability wasn't bugged. (Again, big thanks to the wiki here - they have ALL the research paths!)

Finally, there are your nemeses: the Super Agents! Each one of them armed with unique abilities to infiltrate your base, and 3 of them - a Bruce Lee clone, a Rambo clone and, obviously, a James Bond clone - are absolute TERRORS. Bruce can basically one shot any minion in melee, and minions with guns don't shoot enemies in melee range; they engage them in melee combat -_- Rambo dual wields M60s...need I say more? And James Bond randomly causes explosions around your base. If it wasn't for a handy glitch that allows you to permanently pacify them until they can be defeated permanently, they'd make the game almost unplayable.

I could go on, but I think that's enough. I still love the game despite all its flaws. Besides, you can execute random minions anytime they get on your nerves. And what more can you ask for from an Evil Genius simulator?

[li]Standard fare for a Final Fantasy game, but around the end of the first disc the plot begins swerving, bucking, and derailing itself so hard that at times you'll think you've ended up in a different game. The final boss is endemic of this behavior, as it's a character that was never seen or even mentioned previously in the game. Not that that's anything new for JRPGs...[/li]
[li]Battle sequences take a fair length of time to actually begin.[/li]
[li]Quina is a terrible character, inside and outside of combat, basically being the "gag" character of the game. Technically speaking, she's one of the most powerful characters if you can utilize her gimmick well, but it's so incredibly frustrating to try and work it.[/li]
[li]While the soundtrack overall is outstanding, there aren't any particular singular tracks that stand out as well as, say, VII's "One-Winged Angel".[/li]

Killing Floor.
Everybody has the same fucking voice except for Ash, the Clots grabbing your ass every ten seconds is annoying as shit, the buttrapings that appear after the third wave can turn around and do it to themselves, there seems to be about five hundred Traders in this universe, as you have clones of her all across the game, when you shoot people they do not act like they are made out of STONE and just have some rocks fall off of their clothes, aren't we supposed to be soldiers being sent into battle with these things, not the a Termninator mixed with a chicken? Why does the story for the Hillbilly Horrors say that they've been eating the Specimens, when the story for the Hillbilly Horrors map says that they were mutated by toxic waste, and on the same topic if the hillbillies became Specimens by accident, WHY DO THEY LOOK THE SAME?
