The day I'm able to get Crysis 2 for under 20 dollars I'll consider.

Played the original, loved it.
Crysis 2 MP demo, after crashing and refusing to start for about 5 days it worked, it was OK.
read about it's premise, was a little shaken but was still going to get it.
learned it jumped on the bandwagon and gave consoles too much say in development, was saddened.
learned it looked worse then the original...gave up hope.

Waiting for BF3 EA's 3rd shot to make a shooter right in the last year.

I'm just skipping to my reply because I have this video about Crytek you all should see. It's a Crytek dev explaining why Crysis will have to suffer if it's on consoles... and of course, it did suffer for it.

To summarize: they had to cut back in scale greatly. OP you don't seem to understand the original's type of "sandbox." It wasn't a huge open level and you run missions. Each level was it's own open area with clear objectives, usually where you'd make your way from one end of the map to the other. There's no running around gathering missions or flying from one city to another.

Because they went with a console release, the game became a lot less open. Almost corridor-like.

Aside from that, they also didn't change the graphics beyond maybe slightly higher res textures between console and PC versions - minor for most, perhaps, but after all their promises and promoting it came as a shock when the demo was DX9 and no customizable graphic options.

Did Crysis 1 have DX11? Does 2? No?

Exactly.
Crysis 1 ran on DX 10 since that was the highest version out at the time... I actually still am unable to run Crysis 1 (Warhead is Fine though) at Max settings without slight framerate drop on this system, whereas it plays Crysis 2 DX9 at Max with no problem whatsoever... Crysis was a series based on unparalleled graphics quality so it's only natural, or maybe I'm the only one that thinks so (which is doubtful), that Crysis 2 should be at the Bleeding edge. Thus it absolutely should be DirectX 11 compatible.

Am I the only one that finds it sad that DICE is now the only dev from EA that is giving PC gamers any love anymore?

They saw Modern Warfare 2 come out and said "It's okay guys, Bad Company 2 will have Dedicated servers."

Now with Battlefield 3 coming soon, they're not only killing off DirectX 9 for good (such is my hope anyway, 10 and 11 are much better) they are making a return of the 64 player maps that made Battlefield so damn awesome to play.

Please DICE don't let me down... You're EAs only hope... (Sorry Bioware, Dragon Age 2 was pathetic...)

So, how about the story? Does the plot get advanced at all? What happened after the end of Crysis 1, where Nomad & co. went back to the island following Prophet. What happened to Prophet during his disappearance? Does it tie in with the first game at all? I couldn't care less about the multiplayer, and I'm not that concerned about DX9, I wanna know what happened!

Actually they still used Sandbox (duh) its just not available to the public.

Also there are maps of Crysis 1 that are in cities.
Example:
Now just to show some of the possibilities of the CryEngine 2 and the Sandbox

You dont know what you are talking about.

Yeah I think it just pretends that never happened.

Lot of explosions... wow. I don't want to pay full price for half of a product.
I hope you didn't buy any CoD games then.

I'm playing the pc version of Crysis 2 right now, and I like it. The beef that I have with it, as well as many other pc players have is that there are so few advanced options for graphics/controls etc. Though a lot of this can be fixed through console commands, the point is that it shouldn't be so difficult.

Crytek claims that a patch for DX11 will be available some time in the future, but time will tell.

If you played the PC version of Crysis 2, you'd see the visual difference. Once DX11 is available should look even better.

You just made your entire post completely irrelevant.

Thank you, have a nice day.

that won't happen unless someone knocks over a gamestop truck and then sells the contents at low low prices... if you have a pc I am sure you can find a torrent for free with a product key...

How so the game still rocks... geesh if it was exactly like the first one everyone would be like... sigh it's just like the first one... THE AWESOMENESS of the game isn't detracted from the fact that I haven't played the game via PC

When a sequel is worse than the original, is disconnected story-wise, and is completely different gameplay-wise, then it really shouldn't exist.

I had wanted Crysis 2, not Call of Duty: NanoSuit Edition.

I played the first couple of hours of Crysis 2 on my housemate's 360.

It's, well... completely meh.

Yes, the controls are good. Yes, the graphics are pretty. Yes, there are plenty of explosions. Yes, the nanosuit is cool. Yes, the gameplay is functional. Yes, it's all pretty well balanced.

But when all is said and done it's just yet another damn FPS starring yet another damn marine shooting yet more damn PMCs and yet more damn aliens. You walk, you sprint, you aim down the iron sights, you shoot a guy, you throw a grenade, you watch a cutscene, you try to convince yourself the story isn't complete fucking garbage, you drive a tank, you blow shit up etc etc.

Basically, if you are reading this then chances are good that you have already bought this game in at least five different boxes and played this game at least five times.

Crysis 2 makes me feel like someone who has eaten plain white rice for every meal of every day for an entire year.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I should probably mention the original. It was dull as ditchwater. But at least it had a certain feel to it. Varied abilities, nice open level design and some good visual aesthetics. Story was garbage.

The fact that it runs DX 2 generations old coupled with the news bit about PCs being what it was developed for run a little counter to each other, in my opinion.

If you're looking for AAA games on PC anymore you're going to have to look for the PC specific developers out there. If it's going console you can expect it to be a port. But that's ok! The independent scene on PC is a million miles beyond what the consoles have. Real innovation happens on a PC and it remains (along with mods) the reason to embrace the platform.

And I loved Dragon Age 2. :p
