Nice, most pcs can RUN crysis, but power = pretty, and btw. some good downloads are CCC tweaker and natural mod, makes crysis beautiful and blazing fast, + tone down the resolution to like 1280 or 1024
Non-native resolution is usually a bad idea. Streching sucks.

You should have checked the Can You Run it site too and it should give you a vague idea of what you have.
I heard that site can be terribly inaccurate.

only on certain criteria. It's awfully bitchy when it comes to your OS as it always prefers Vista. Also if you have a multi GPU video card it will only pick up on individual GPU power. I remember when I went there to see how well I was rated for crysis, I have a 9800GX2 which is a 1GB vid card (multi GPU) so it said I had 512 Vmemory instead of the full gig as the card has 2 GPU's, each 512. Overall it's not a bad site.

It is based on the specs given by the publisher which are, as always, highly underrated.

So, i just bought this game today and i found something out : my computer can run this, even though it falls short of a couple of the minimum specs...im a bit confused actually, i thought it wouldnt run...althought if i put it on Medium settings, my computer restarts itself...its a bit weird...also im only putting in the Windows XP specs, since thats what i have

Minimum specs:
3.2GHz
1.0Gb RAM
12GB HDD space
Video Card - NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT or higher

My specs:
2.2GHz
1.5GB RAM
just enough hdd space
NVIDIA GeForce 7600
Jeez, you wont run this game well unless you put it on minimum resolution and minimum graphic quality, in fact, I suspect it wont even run then.

Yea.....I doubt crysis will run on your computer even on minimum settings.

My rig (just a few specs):
3.0ghz (without overclocking)
4gb RAM
around 300 HDD space
Radeon HD 4870 512mb

I can run it on just above medium setting.
You really should be able to run it on a lot higher than that, I was running it somewhere between High/very high with my rig, which is somewhat older than yours.
The only point in the game where I had to go and turn things down were the final bossfight, but even on low settings I was getting 8-15 fps before that patch (through most of the game I was getting 30-45 fps).

2.4 GhZ core2duo (running at around 3.2GhZ)
2Gb ram
maybe 50gb hdd space
2x 1gb 2900XT

on topic:
Yeah, you'd be surprised how little you need to make it run, the minimum specs listed on the box are rarely the lowest rig you need to play it, back when I had my IBM R30 for gaming I managed to get lots of games that were, on paper, a long way out of reach (mb onboard graphics ftw). I'd recommend using some of the mods that optimize graphics as they really make a difference.

UPDATE : My processor just burned out after 3 hours of playing Crysis straight...It's getting repaired as we speak, and I am writing this on a laptop.

Maybe I shouldn't play games for that long :(

Crysis can be very CPU-intensive for single-core processors (not so much for multi-core ones). Sounds to me like your PC isn't so used to being under such stress and you likely did not have sufficient airflow in your case to keep the thing cool when under a high load. Any intensive program would likely have caused this to happen.

Right, I don't understand a word of that

CPU overheated = dead.

Crysis does need to use your CPU and HDD a lot if you don't have the graphics memory/RAM to hold all of the levels data at once, especially the textures.

Well according to the back of the box, I had enough RAM, so I'm still confused

I liked Crysis for it's gameplay as well as graphics. Also it's really mod friendly and fun to mod lol.
