The guy says 'slightly more performance', but the forums and fanboys will turn that into massive leaps and bounds better.
I honestly wonder what 'slightly more performance' is?
10 to 20 more frames per second? Less? More?
10 second better loading times? 5? 20?

I wish he actually went into a bit more detail, but oh well.
The game looks amazing on the 360 videos and screenshots I've seen, so I'll wait for a demo before I worry about 'performance'.
10 to 20 more frames per second would be a drastic performance bump. Considering most ps3 games run at ~30fps.

So its likely something like 1-3 more fps, with a few seconds off loading times.
But that's just it. What does this guy consider 'slightly'?
1 to 3 FPS? 5? 10?

We don't know, and all we have is his subjective turn-of-phrase, which means different things to different people.
I'm just annoyed he even said this at all. I mean, if it's so slight, why bother mentioning it? Although I guess we're all sitting around here talking about the game, so there is a good reason. Curse you, CryTek, and your buzz building ways!

it just goes to show when a company rather than do a valve and try create a game for the ps3 then realise its to difficult and give up on the platform (or like the many others that port the ps3 version over from the 360 ) crytek stuck at it and created a better game because of it ... hard work pays off!

i have both consoles now though so its all good :) still think XBL should be free or atleat muuuch cheaper!
How do you know it's better? sure, improved performance.

But Sun age runs great on my PC, while Saints Row 2 is borderline unplayable on anything but the lowest settings (It was a terrible port, the guys who did that have no excuse).
SR2 is still the better game (no thanks to the scum who ported it, who I hear were a different team to the devs).

Wait until the game is out to pass judgement.
sorry i meant better game, as in what it would have been if it was a port... dont say thats not true, all games that have been ported onto the ps3 dont look as good as they could of been

plus if i want to pass judgement now im well within my rights to do so :p

OT: Doesn't matter much to me. I'm getting it on the PC, so bleh.
I'd love to get it on PC, but my laptop can only just about handle CryEngine2, it'd ignite if it tried to run this.
CryEngine 3 is supposed to have lower system requirements than CryEngine 2, so it should be easier to run.
I'll still be getting it for PS3, I have more than 300GB of games bouhgt from Steam on my laptop.

I really don't care about the scored hit in the Console Wars as much as I hope someone is forcing Gabe Newell to read this.

But those extra frames show teh superiority of teh best console out there LOLOLOLOL!!!11!!!

*Ahem*
I'm all seriousness I'm not surprised in the least about that, and I'm sure with enough tweaking they could get the 360 to the same level of a PS3.

Side note: CryTek, hearing about Crysis is good and all, but when the hell are you gonna start up on TimeSplitters 4 hmm?
"If the gaming community wants it." You say?
Guess what? The gaming community (at least the ones I hang with) want no, demand another TimeSplitters.

Not only does it look better on PC, I remember them saying something about the new engine being more optimized than the last one.

Mother of God...

Do... do you hear that? It's the sound of rampaging fanboys. Might I add that I do own a PS3, before I'm coated in insults.

Well, doesn't effect me any. I have both consoles, but I'm still getting it on the 360, as that's the console the majority of my friends own, and I want to play multiplayer with people I like.

Oh bloody hell, I hope they don't do a Project Origin with this and turn Crysis 2 into something that bears little resemblance to its predecessor in terms of gameplay. I'm hoping there's the same amount of tactical depth involved, if not more.

I'm getting it on PC, and mine can run Crysis with no issues at all, so if what they're saying about the sequel requiring less resources is true, then I should have no problems.

"We saw that the PS3 was different, so we took the time to learn how to develop for it"

Bravo. See? Using your brain and learning things helps make better games.

Maybe Valve will finally drop its stupid excuse and just admit they don't like the console. :p*

*I'm referring to the awful TF2 port the PS3 got, I mean come on Valve would working with sony have been that hard?
The PS3 Port of The Orange Box was ported by EA. Valve didn't want it on the PS3 in the first place.

I think what we should take from this isn't that PS3 has better hardware - which we knew - it's that with the right approach it isn't as hard to program for as people make it out to be. PS3 has been dissed a lot because of it by fanboys, but here's a reputed developer saying look - it's not hard if you just go about it the right way, because it is different but it's also got better potential.

Everyone's saying that fanboys are coming. Stop trying to be "edgy" or "cool". This is a decent community where people don't blatantly start fanboy wars (unlike gameFAQs). There won't be any flaming because there doesn't need to be any.

As far as I'm concerned, as long none of the versions run so badly as to impair the experience for the player, it's all good. PC is always going to run better than the consoles, and realistically the PS3 should run marginally better than the 360. So what? Everyone's still getting the same game, what does a couple of frames have to do with anything?
