Do you think its possible to make a game in which Cthulu would make and appearance and/or would even be killable?
only if the entire game was one giant boss fight against Cthulu and you always loose.

He kills people with his mind. We only have guns.
He's a mile tall. We average 6 feet.
He has wings. We have plains and trains and automobiles.
He has a tentacle face. We have chins.
I think Cthulhu wins.

You could do it in the prince of persia 2 style and have you running from cthulu the whole time. Honestly, that would be kind of cool, especially if your character slowly slipped into insanity through hallucinations.

Hey all,

Firstly I strongly suggest you have a go at playing Arkham Horror. It is a superb boardgame in which all the players are trying, desperately, to close off multiple dimensional rips between our world and those of the Elder Gods. Hope and prey that you do because if you fail and the Elder God wakes up well.... bad things happen. =S

On a slightly related note, has anyone seen these two web comics?

Hello Cthulhu
http://www.hello-cthulhu.com/?date=2003-11-30

A fantasic take on the triles and tribulations of a poor poor Elder God stuck in a land of sickening cuteness.

The Unspeakable Vault of Doom
http://www.macguff.fr/goomi/unspeakable/vault00-cast.html

Is a superb tongue in cheek take on the world of Lovecraft and all his happy go luck creations.

Both are well worth reading and a pretty good way into finding out more about the Mythos, particularily The UVoD.

Enjoy =D

Oh and I know spelling is not my strong point, sorry...

Actually, that could work as a game ;) Developers, go make!

We could launch hundredsthousands of plains, trains, and automobiles at Cthulhu to get him to go back to sleep! If we can figure out a way to auto pilot each so we dont have any humans driving them that could go insane.

I think it could work as just an appearance, but you shouldn't be able to actually kill him. I'd love to see another Cthulhu mythos game made by the same folks who made Dark Corners of the Earth. Too bad that's never going to happen, as it was a great game. Fundamentally all the gameplay mechanics are pretty sound, and it's atmosphere is amazing, it's a shame the PC version was so buggy. Really I could only see Cthulhu working if he appeared briefly right at the end and caused you to go insane and kill yourself. Either shooting yourself, jumping off a cliff into the ocean, or what have you. I can imagine it being very impressive, especially if done with the same insanity effects of Dark Corners of the Earth. But you don't kill Cthulhu, period.
COC was great sure it was buggy but take a game like a cross between BIOSHOCK and Undying only a bit more stealth evolved, with a maze/key find layout setup(like doom or metroid), use the mental break down a bit differently when you near 80% on the mental gauge left/right or forward/barckward movement is reversed at 90% you might eat your gun if you see the gun moving word your head you have to use the mouse to force it away, then offer 2 play modes to apse the masses 1 is a simplified mental break down script that starts up around 90% and is easy enough to deal with the other one messes with your controls and you have to fight to keep from killing youerself.

I would really like to see another FP cuthulu game...

As far as H.P. Lovecraft went, there was no mention of Cthulu being killable, mainly because the abject terror it causes makes it impossible to stand against, no person could manage it.

If you cleared the area and pressed that big shiney red button in your reinforced concrete bunker deep deep underground, several continentes away from Cthulu I imagine a couple of nukes could sort the beasty out.

If in doubt NUKE!!!

If that fail... then yes, it's unkillable.
In a game, it would no doubt be a wonderous addition to utter terrid myriad of munsters and kritters that make up the colourful and wonderfully textured bosses from the Final Fantasy series... maybe Cthulu could make an appearance in FFXIV as a Sin kind of big boss, then you're little rag-tag team of androgynous pre-teens and furries can sort it out.

Leave it to the Japanese to get Cthulu in a game if no one else will touch him.

Though it could end up in a D&D game, Conan-ish, Oblivion-ish... you know psuedo-european medievil fantasy, or even a God of War, greek, roman, byzantinian style setting.

But in general... NO!!! CTHULU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE KILLABLE!!!

...and I am intregued as to a game were you play as it, but I imagine it would end up like Rampage from the Nintendo, shallow utter destruction, which in small doses isn't bad, but it would be a pathetic use of such an awesome beasty.

What part of a being that can literally not die do you people not understad, the sheer force of his being would destroy all of you pitiful mechanical contraptions. Also people would have to see him in order to give the Machines the order to attack. Also there's nothing that says AI can't go crazy, have you ever heard of Clinicaly depressed robot syndrom. In short humanity we loose get off earth now and we might have a chance. w00t 2020 lunar colonies.

How about one where you play as cthulu.
This is the best idea I have ever heard.
Maybe, but it just seems like it's an inbuilt game breaker. Honestly, it's Chthulu. It'd be basically like God Mode times by the area of the universe. Cubed. Added to the hyperplane (yes, I did make an Ian Irvine reference there, please don't judge me...).
