I was wondering what happened to this game, because they had revealed it way back just before the Xbox One came out. Yet the game just vanished for over a year. Now it's back, still looks good, I just hope it comes out at some point because I could use a reason to turn my Xbone on for a change.

I was wondering what happened to Cuphead. Turns out it's not just boss rush game anymore, but a regular platformer. Fine by me.

Disappointing that they'd make two protagonists and make them both male.
Mickey Mouse, but no Minnie Mouse?
It's made by two brothers. Is two player.

Make of it what you will.

Oh, I didn't know it was developed by two brothers.
Then it might be as you suggested.
Cute!

.....Wait, two people made this nice game?? In total??
Probably why it is taking so long to come out. You'd be surprised at how many games are made by only a couple of people though. After all Minecraft was developed by one dude for the longest time. Until it started to explode, and he became a billionare.

No, they have a team of 16 people, but the brothers are lead game director, lead art director, and owners. Here's a list.

EDIT: Also note that pretty much none of these guys actually live near the owners, so it's not like they're are all working on the project hand in hand. I think the brothers are the only full time guys on this game, and everyone else are just contractors hired for specific jobs.

Oh good, it's not just a boss rush game anymore. I loved the aesthetics, but I was turned off by the prospect of facing nothing but bullet-hell bosses with a million hitpoints. Now I'm intrigued.

I just remembered Wario Land: Shake it, the only platformer made in hand-drawn animation I've seen until Rayman Origins, are there any others besides these two?

I remember Wario's buttocks shaking on the menu screen on glorious 2D animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OWeoR1i9uo

Honestly, it's taken so long for it to come out i've lost all interest. And this platforming didn't really look that interesting to play.

I really want to see if possible a cameo of Peacock from Skullgirls.
I know I asking [maybe] the impossible, but i can dream, can't I?
Also very cool for only fe people to make a full-animated platformer videogame. it is glorious!
I only hope the difficulty of the game [the developers themselves said it will be very hard] don't "push" away casual gamers who just want to admire the beautiful classic animations.

Hehe! Finger guns. Why do all those "pop" sound effects feel so pleasant? It's like audio bubble wrap therapy. The old school disney feel is pretty cute. Shall keep an eye on this'un. [small]Holy shit...That character actually has a cup for a head! Is this a metaphor for something or is it not worth thinking about?[/small]

This is great. I remember kvetching over how the lack of traditional platforming game play only hurts a title with such rich art and animation. This is EXACTLY what I wanted.

Day 1 buy.

Looks nice.

I'm hoping you can turn off that ugly, obscuring filter. I get what they're going for, but we clean up and remaster old films and animations for a reason.
That would detract from the "feel" they're going for though. There is a very specific timing used in the era of animation that they're going for. The film stock filters further enhances the age they want this game to resonate with in your head.

The same thing wanted the developer to try with the game "Back in 1995". The developer put filters which made the game look it is played in a old TV. It is really BAD for the eyes.
That why is wise to be an options if you want special filters or not.

IGN comments always make me want to gouge my eyes out.

I remember seeing this back in the day. Looks pretty dang cool. Nice fast pace, lots of enemies coming from different directions.

I'm just not sure about the sound design though. I know what they were going for, but it's just not quite right. I think the main character having audible footsteps and some kind of light sound on the finger gun would go a long way to making this feel better.

Not my cup of tea, but the old school look is definitely cute.
